Last year they had the worst offense now they have the worst defense. smh
I have to doff my cap. They really know how to tank. I think we will end up losing to them again.
i have looked at the Bobcats' stats on 82 games, and my theory for why they are so bad defensively comes down to bad coaching the overuse of four players and under use of three players.
First of all, Byron Mullen and Ramon Sessions are absolutely horrific defenders. Ben Gordon is also a poor defender. Gerald Henderson has not been as effective defensively as players behind him in the depth chart but he plays more minutes by far. I put the whole mess on Coach Mike Dunlap and the fact that he's playing veterans not named Haywood over young guys who are better.
When the Bobcats use Kemba Walker with both rookies, Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist and Jeffrey Taylor, the Bobcats have much better defense. Add Haywood and he is a defensive anchor. Unfortunately, he is the other type of anchor offensively, he holds Charlotte's scoring down a bunch, too. Surprisingly, their offense has flowed more with Biyombo for some strange reason.
A very effective lineup that should be on the court a lot more for Charlotte is
Walker, Taylor, Kidd-Gilchrist, Biyombo, Haywood
Forget about running many plays. Just play up-tempo and get after the passing lanes.
Bye bye Beal.
