I have an Idea

Post#1 » by Tirion » Fri Jan 18, 2013 4:46 am

Adelman, you need to be with your wife and family. Take the rest of the season off. Don't even think about basketball.

Love, Bud, Lee, take all the time you need, don't rush back. BTW, Kevin, that Kahn guy you don't like? We fired him.

AK, Barea, your backs are hurting? Dante, Alexey, anything bothering you? You need to get that looked at ASAP. Maybe some rest and rehab, about a month or two.

PEK, you need to think long-term here. Don't play hurt. In fact don't play at all, we have a nice contract here for you, anyway.

Rubio, how about some more rehab? Let's limit your minutes.

Stiemsma, Amudsen? You're playing 30+ minutes a night from now on. Luke, try to make D-Will look good.

Terry, I think you need to take one for the team. It will look bad on your coaching record, but you'll be the first on the line when Rick retires. Maybe.

So we should play with a 4 man team? Luke/Derrick/Lou/Greg? Great idea!

Yes, that's what I meant. Cause that is totally possible.

In case you're not purposefully being a jerk and are this dense for real:

Luke/Gelebale/Derrick/Lou/Greg + scrubs on vet-min contracts.

To do that you'd ave to waive guys to make room on the roster for the vet min guys.

You only get one disabled player exception, IIRC.

Also, the whole idea is dumb to me. With a mindset like this you'll never escape the perpetual cycle of suckitude.

And as it was mentioned, we'd end up with the 2nd pick anyway. Not to mention that we'd screw up said pick, too.

I would like to go on a purposeful tank, not the current "tanking without trying to" approach.

Good idea, but the deadline for that was Tuesday, and we didn't apply for any.

If San Antonio was punished for resting their 3 best players vs Miami, what would Stern do to us for this? : d

If the draft is truly rigged, Stern should give us the #1 pick for this season .

I believe it already belongs to either Orlando (for losing Dwight) or Sacramento/Seattle (if the move happens)

So basically I long-winded tank and fire Kahn approach....

Exactly what I expected.

Seriously. The draft is not rigged. There's way too much at stake for the parties involved to risk rigging it these days.

Isn't there just as much at stake by making sure that the top picks go to the teams where they will generate the most money for the NBA longterm?

I doubt it's rigged, but do any of us believe Stern is above doing that?

I agree it's not rigged, just playing along with everyone's fantasies

Let me add one more thing.

If the draft is random, it certainly has shown a lot of luck to have fallen in the favor of the NBA for the last five years. I predicted NOH would "win" the lottery this year, but here's some reasoning for the last five:

2008 Derrick Rose, CHI: third biggest market -- hometown guy
2009 Blake Griffin, LAC: 2nd biggest market
2010 John Wall, WAS: (I don't remember the specifics)
2011 Kyrie Irving, CLE: Payoff CLE owner just after they lose LeBron
2012 Anthony Davis NOH: Make NBA-owned Hornets attractive to new buyer without Chris Paul
