8th seed in the West will only need 43-44 wins IMO

Post#1 » by Hook_Em » Fri Jan 18, 2013 5:39 am

Why is everyone assuming you need 48 wins to make it in the WC this year. Last year means nothing. The current 8th seed has 21 wins with the season halfway done. No offense to either team but Houston is collapsing and I don't see Utah making it with their schedule.

Utah has played more road games (tied with Denver) than any team in the NBA so far, and they still sit in 7th, so you may want to rethink that. Anyways, it's still early, I think the record for the 8th seed is a going to be better. I think atleast one of LAL, Dallas, or Minnesota will get into the playoff race.

I think it will be one of Dallas and Lakers for the 8th seed it all depends on how Utah does for both to make it.
Minnesota,Portland and Houston all free falling

Houston 42 games left

24 games left against playoff teams or Dallas and Lakers

7-12 .368% on the Road 22 Road games left 12 of those Road games against playoff teams or Dallas and Lakers

4-10 .286% against Playoff teams or Dallas and Lakers on the road

7-15 .318% against the West 30 games left against the west 16 of those games on the road 0-9 against the west on the Road

3-7 .300% against the Div . 6 Division games left . 3 of those on the road 0-5 on the road against the Div

9 Back2 Backs left including their next 2 games @ Indiana @ Minnesota

Portland 43 games left

33 games left against playoff teams or Dallas and Lakers

21 Road games 16 of those against playoff teams or Dallas and Lakers

7 Back2Backs left

Portlands lack of a Bench will be their downfall

Minnesota How long is Love out like 2 months ? Without Love Minnesota will not make the playoffs!!

Lakers have a bunch of road games upcoming. Thats the key issue with them. They have gotten through the easier part of their schedule.

If they get in though, it wont be fun for the top 1 or two seed facing them.

Minny is likely done, with two more major injuries tonight on Pekovic and Shved, two of their best players that had been relatively healthy.

Yeah I didn't buy this at all when people were saying it the last few weeks. The west is deep and teams are going to beat up on each other. Houston and GS haven't played a ton of west games yet. GS is going to have proably 17-18 losses in the next 2 weeks. The race is going to be tight all year. the 4-10 come the end of the year will all probably be within a couple losses of each other.

Some team will get hot close to the end of the season, it seems to always happen in the West. It'll probably be one of Utah, Houston, or Portland.

Exactly. At this point seeding is irrelevant. Its about playing well going into the playoffs...I'm positive no team out West wants to play LA in the first round...

That's the difference between the East/West. Out East, you have a 1st and 2nd round bye while out West you play LA, Dallas, Denver, etc. in the 1st round...

Denver's probaby going to be the 4 seed this year, watch out.

In response to the part I bolded: yeah, no team wants to be at the mercy of the refs. It's sad that the refs do so much for the lakers.
