When do we start taking the Nets seriously?

Post#1 » by Michael_Scott » Sat Jan 19, 2013 3:43 am

I don't want to, but they are 10-2 under PJ. It seems like they may actually be good at this point, but I don't know. i was thinking initially that it was still the free reign under the new coach, but it looks like maybe something clicked.

What do you guys think?

New coach bump. The key is they make Lopez a focus. When DWill is dominating they fall apart.

I take them as seriously as I take Atlanta. Good team. Can beat anyone, but no faith in them.

I want the knicks to take them serious so there is no let down. They beat us the first time we played them, hope it don't happen again. I really hope Charles Barkley is wrong but lately its a scary thought that he could end up being right.

Been taking the serious, I watch most of their games and their defense is really good. Their offense is much better under PJ, they have movement on offense, Brook is scoring and Dwill looks like a good pg at times now.

It doesn't matter if any of us fans take the Nets seriously or not. As long as Woodson and the team take them and every other NBA team seriously, that's all I'm concerned about.

for the most part, coaching changes aren't overnight decisions they are carefully planed out especially schedule wise.

u don't think the nets carefully plotted out avery johnson firing with the nets playing there easiest part of there schedule of the season?

outside the OKC and Pacers game who on the schedule was an impressive win?

bobcats?
cavs?
washington?
sacramento?
phili?
phoenix?
toronto?
atlanta (no horford or lou williams)

i mean they are taking care of business good for them, they got a little boost from the coaching change which was planned for this stretch if avery got off to a poor start.

if they think they can play the same way they have been playing vs atlanta and toronto over this past week they are in for a beating.

they have a tough 8 game stretch starting with us coming up if they go 5-3 or better in that stretch i will call them legit...if they go 4-4 or under 500 they are nothing more than a 1st round exit. You have 7 possible playoff teams out of the 8 teams they play in a row...that will tell me if this stretch was just playing poor talent or they have actually improved.

If I'm given a reason to, I'll take them seriously at about 3 PM on MLK Day, but I highly doubt their going to give me reason for concern.

They had 2 hot streaks at the two easiest part of their schedule. PJ is a terrible coach as well, so they'll fall back to Earth again. If not, then it's the time to give them their props.

We should take every team seriously. No reason not to.

We'd have to be stupid not to take them seriously. I watched the game against the Thunder and they just have so many weapons offensively, especially with Deron making himself relevant again. Everyone likes to rip on their bench but guys like Blatche, Brooks and Humphries are solid. They are definitely a team take note of.

Their schedule since Avery got fired:

Beat Bobcats by 16 at home
Barely beat Cavs at home by 3
Lose by 31 in San Antonio
Beat Thunder by 17 in OKC (Very impressive win)
Need Double OT to beat the Wizards in DC
Beat Kings by 20 at home
Win by 20 in Philly
Beat Suns by 20 at home
Beat Pacers by 11 at home
Beat Raptors at home
Split home and home with Hawks

The teams they've beaten over this stretch are a combined 166-232, and that's including OKC's record, best in the league.
