He's getting DNP'd. I don't have access to the games so I don't really know what the deal is. Perhaps one of you guys can fill me in.

he is in the dog house right now sitting right next to Devin Ebanks.

Seriously though my idea why he has fallen out of the rotation is because MDA (hopefully) is starting to understand that in order to win we have to play defense. Some of the reasons why I believe "this" (Defense actually being stressed now) to be true are.

1. Kobe now play bigger defensive role (Although I think that this was more Kobe telling MDA that he wanted to and needed to for the team)
2. Gasol coming off the bench last night.
3. Morris playing a bigger role than Duhon (Duhon is the worst defender on the team IMO)
4. All of the effort players are playing more minutes (Kobe, Dwight, Metta, Clark, and even Jamison to some extent)

My thoughts exactly... I dont get what MD sees that duhon gives us. He holds the ball so long not doing anything with it then passes it up to Kobe with 5 seconds left in the shot clock. He's a horrible point guard and when he does get the ball for the spot up 3 he still doesn't shoot it. He get's lost on defense worse then anyone on the team including Kobe.

I wish MD would put in Meeks in place of him to play alongside a line-up of Kobe and Gasol, when Nash is out of the game. Having Kobe and Pau be the facilitators of that group. At least Meeks throws up the shot when he gets the open look, and he would have played a whole lot better defense on Ray Allen or Miami's other Guards other than Wade a whole lot better than Dukey Duhon did.

personally....though the lakers still have kinks to work out just about everywhere.....i really don't think the defense is a major problem. sure, our perimeter defense is great because we lack speed, but it's to be expected when your starting back court has about a 36 year old avg. if you add metta to it, we're still well into the 30s on the perimeter...at this point, you can't teach speed. at the very least, the celtics had rondo even though ray allen and pierce were pretty old when they went on their run. they can always find tune their defense to be better but it is what it is. they ain't trading bryant or nash so they basically need to find a SF that is amazing on D.

the major issue with this current team is they aren't great on offense. you wonder how come we give up so much layups/dunks and so on is because we turn the ball over so much. you figured with the amount of experience the lakers have they would take care of the ball a lot better. most of the time, the offense is dysfunctional. they could barely run a pick and roll against the heat. the lakers don't get many ez basket. it's always iso and lucky they're big down low so they get a few offensive rebounds here and there and gets a nice pass down low once in a while.

i don't get why the lakers keep playing morris. i'd rather have meeks there. i don't deny the morris might do a thing or two here and there. but meeks can be a game changer in a sense that defenders won't play off him. morris offers no real value to the team. basketball is like a game of strengths and how you use it. all-around players that aren't really good at anything in particular are generally useless. unless you're like lebron where you're all around skills are all massive strengths.

Meeks IS pure hustle. He tries on D. He makes mistakes, but he is giving it his all. Definitely deserves to be playing.

I'd like to see a few minutes w/ Kobe play point w/ Meeks in the corner. Meeks deserves time more than Duhon IMO.

Too slow to defend guards (Lawson). Too small to defend forwards (Brewer). He gives an honest effort.

I'm sure when Blake is back he will get all (or at least most) of Duhons minutes. although I'm not sure how much of an upgrade that is.....

u guys are wondering why meeks is in the doghouse? he shoots way too dam much. i dont think he's met a shot he hasn't liked, but he's not as talented as kobe, so he shouldnt be allowed to do that. it kills our flow and with his shooting slump was giving defenses rebounds and then transition points. he's pretty good on defense though and i do think he's better than duhon by about how much dwight is better than pau at the moment, so a lot. duhon deserves to be cut, i mean is he even good enough to practice against on an nba team?
Warspite:

Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

Not sure they have a choice with Duhon. Meeks is too feast or famine out there though.

wow really guy, thats whats wrong with the world today....kobe can shoot us out of the game and its okay and all that good stuff....If Meeks misses the few shots he gets then its off with his head....
