Having a hard time seeing any similarities to Tyreke. He was the PG and an ISO heavy player in college.

Both are power type wings that use their strength to out bully opponents.

But, like I said, Bazz is a much, much better shooter.

sooooo...... really similar to Harden then?

He's a lefty, from the PAC whatever, scores points in bunches but it shows up in the stat sheet instead of the film, built big, better athlete than given credit for, etc.

I don't know what I enjoy more, UNC currently having a big lead on a good team (on ESPN right now), or this big ass, swagged out, Cam Newton looking dude at the gym singing

Right now, those are the Top 5 on my list. Not in that order, but those 5. Len would be #5 tho. I am really starting to like what I see in Bennett. He moved into my Top 4.

Mcadoo is abusing Len right now.

Bullock has the potential to be a solid 3 and D guy in the NBA. Has good size plays in control. Not an allstar but definitely a guy who should break the rotation.

Ben McLemore has a real chance to impress me today if he can lead the comeback on Texas and close out this game for Kansas. So far he hasn't been aggressive. That's the part about his game that leaves me skeptical, that he could be a skilled offensive player like Hendo, but lack the consistency and aggressiveness to impose his will as a scorer.

He had a pretty rough ankle injury, probably not going to play at the top of his game for a little while.

I've watched UCONN basketball intensely since 1989. I saw all the big names come through from Rip Hamilton to Ray Allen to Kemba Walker right on down the line. I even remember Israeli freshman sensation Nadav Henefeld. I watched Calhoun's first major win live at the Hartford Civic Center where a collection of castoff recruits defeated the #1 ranked Georgetown Hoyas and their "Twin Towers" Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo.

I can tell you this right now. Ben McLemore is the most valuable player in the draft and barring injury, he will have more success than all the rest. I take one look at his stroke and I see Ray Allen written all over him. So I totally understand why scouts draw the comparison in the first place.

That being said, I like Shabazz Muhammad in that he can score in a variety of ways. He is a consistent go-to guy with NBA chutzpah, a big body and he can rebound. He'll never be a superstar but he can be a slightly slower, more controlled, James Harden.

My board is

McLemore
Shabazz
Bennett
Noel
Porter

Alex Len has dropped off my top 5 board. He's a good player but his limitations as a 7 footer whether it's his conditioning or transition defense keep him off the court too much for my liking. I'll just lazily replace him with Cody Zeller for now.

Observations from today

1) Len looks like a complete bust on the next level.

2) Mclemore came through for Kansas down the stretch, though he did look a bit slower than usual, coming off that ankle injury. He was probably 85-90%. The crazy thing about him is, he's probably their LEAST aggressive player and also their LEADING scorer. He's UNBELIEVABLY efficient. That's what's so damn scary about him, he can take only 10-12 shots a game at the next level and STILL be the team's go-to guy.

3) MCW impressed me some, though he does get a little bit careless at times. Personally, I think I'm not that high on him, because I'm typically a fan of smaller PG's. The big ones seem to turn it over quite a bit more, because they're not as low to the ground. He's a very good player, though.

4) Russ Smith (though he's not a big player in the draft, I still want to give an opinion) confirmed what I've thought about him since the very beginning, he's an overrated, inefficient VOLUME SCORER. He wouldn't just be no help at all to a team offensively, he'd be an absolute detriment. He thinks he's Kobe, but he doesn't have ANY of Bryant's talent whatsoever.

5) Shabazz, I understand normally he's a good shooter(like Mclemore, Bazz's handles are still developing), so I don't take this cold shooting night as indicative of his game. What did become evident is, however, that he is very nonathletic. I don't think he has the quickness to guard NBA twos or the threes, so, despite his length, he will be an absolute liability on the defensive end. He'll put up good numbers at the next level, but he won't affect the win-loss collum nearly as much as you'd like him to.

We definitely agree on Big - MAC and Shabazz. But I think "liability" is too strong a term. Shabazz can body defenders and has length to contest shots. There are definitely plenty of NBA guards who will give him fits though.

Yeah, it probably was a bit too strong of a word. I simply think there are far too many guards who eat players like him for breakfast. I do like his physicality, though. Another thing that bothers me is his FT percentage. I realize 73.3% isn't bad, but if you look at the shooters who've transitioned well into the league, most of them have shot between 80 and 95%. Elite FT percentage shows that they've just got that natural touch, so the distance of the NBA three-point line won't make much, if any difference. In summation, his FT percentage seems to indicate that he's not quite as good of a shooter as he looks. Offensively, he strikes me as an upper-middle class man's Brandon Rush. A really nice piece, but not #1 pick material.

I think, based on potential, #1 and #2 have to be Noel and Mclemore. In that order.

Well what player do you feel best fits the Bobcats as currently constructed? My vote is for McLemore. I honestly wouldn't be too terribly disappointed if McLemore is off the board when we draft and we end up with Shabazz. I think he can be a 20 PPG guy. Plus he's a hard worker. After missing those 3 (?) games and showing up slow and slightly overweight he hit the gym, cut out sugary foods and sugary drinks, trimmed down and came back strong. His will to win is an intangible that could show up on the court. He's going to work his tail off and do everything he can do to win. He's also known to clamp down on his teammates for slacking off. He's a good chemistry guy and I don't think he will settle for mediocrity. Some of these guys get lazy when they make their money. Shabazz profiles as a go-getter type. I think he plays with a chip on his shoulder for some reason and he thrives on the hate. He's got swag and chutzpah.
