WT: Nets Preparing to Pursue Trade for Dwight

Is Billy King on crack? In what universe does Lopez for Love (with 3 years remaining on his contract no less) approach equivalent value?

King, according to sources, was confident that he had a trade proposal that was a perfect fit for all teams involved.

 Perfect for all teams involved named Brooklyn maybe.

Wolves could get more for Love... and wat would team do with both Pek and Lopez... and I think that frontoffice is too high on Love to trade him now... they want to see Ricky and Love play together injury free.

I mean Lopez is a nice player to add to pretty much every team in the league but we'd get hosed in this deal. Not to mention there's still Pek on the squad whom I'd rather keep than Lopez - for sentimental reasons, mostly :D

on what PLANET would we trade Love for Lopez. I'm mad that it's even considered feasible.
Can Kahn just come out and call that ridiculous?

I wouldn't do it, but you guys are severely underrating Lopez right now. He's been the best offensive Center in the game this year, rebounding has improved and he blocks 2 shots a game. He's definitely an all-star

I'm not underrating the player Lopez, I just don't like the value we'd get for a minor upgrade at best.

I wouldn't do it for Love obviously but he's a lot better than Pek. Pek's a good center but he's not in Lopez's league at all. That's just the truth of the matter

Love hater alert.

Lopez and Love should have pretty similar value in my honest opinion. Lopez is 7 foot, plays both ends, and can be a focal point of an offense. He's got 25 PER right now.

Maybe then you can trade Pek for someone like Josh Smith?

I still remember the "soft" label Lopez had acquired. I think I'll see if he can maintain this level of play. After all Varejao played out of his mind earlier this season and even Beasley stringed together a couple of good months when he first arrived.

I wouldn't mind this trade if it was followed up by another trade where we'd trade Pek for a nice shooting guard.
I'd hate to see that happen personally, though. Pek is one of my favorite Wolves of all time.

The rumored three team deal was shut down quickly by the Nets, anyway, so there's not much room to speculate.

Thorpe of ESPN just ranked the top 25 under 25 and Love is 8, Lopez is 9. I think Thorpe is one of the smarter basketball people on the interwebs.

He used to be good, but his takes have gotten worse the past few years.

Playing the devil's advocate here, Love's really only had one great 55 game season and has the "soft" in the belly label.

We would really lack perimeter scoring & rebounding without Love. As mentioned, if you can get Josh Smith + Lopez + scoring SG, we would be a better team. I'd hate to move Love for Lopez and know nothing else would be lined up for us. I'd also like to think we could get something better if we were to shop Love around more (assuming Kahn hasn't much).

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
