So we have no bench now

Bayless
Arthur
Hidadi

C: Marc 35, Arthur 13, Haddadi
PF: ZBo 35, Arthur 5, Leuer/Pondexter 5-8
SF: Gay 35, Pondexter 13
SG: Allen 30, Bayless 18
PG: Conley 35, Wroten 8-10, Bayless 3-5

+ a FA guard who can shoot to take minutes from Wroten

still pretty solid IMO.

Confusing trade nonetheless.

The starting 5 is pretty solid, but that bench will be one of the worst in the league.

I thought that Speights fitted in very well in Memphis, I just loved the way he yapped to DeAndre last year in round 1 after every jumpshot he made. He's a rugged banger that definitely will prove himself in Cleveland. Leuer seems so white and could look so out of place at Memphis... I guess Darrell Arthur will play even more now.

Leuer won't even sniff the court, Arthur will play more for sure, and Haddadi is more than capable to handle 8-10 mpg as the backup C.

No, I get it, I get it. That's was kind of my point - they traded away rotation players for a guy who will barely get the chance to break a sweat.

What are you talking about? Cleveland has traded for first rounders (not traded them).

I'm thinking Cousins to Cleveland for some of those picks and a prospect.

Probably trying to stockpile for the Wiggins draft. It's probably what we're doing as well.

I've watched him all season and he is embarrasingly bad. Him not being able to beat out Luke Walton for PF minutes should tell you all you need to know. It was a salary dump and Memphis will need to rely heavily on Haddadi and Arthur for backup minutes in the front court. Sam Amico (who sucks) tweeted that Memphis might sign Samardo Samuels as well who could maybe give a couple minutes a game if absolutely needed.

That being said amazing trade for the Cavs. Grant is awesome at turning cap flexibility into picks.

Sasha Vujacic is not heading to Memphis. Playing with Efes at Turkey and rumor has it he has no clause to leave for an NBA offer. Efes is at Top 16 Stage of Euroleague and Sasha is one of the important players for that team.

Like if i want him on my Grizzlies, hell no.

This pick is so crazy. cha_77_bobcats is so right about this. But it made me think that the Grizzlies are setting the stage for some other big trades. So there will be, most likely to me, no departure of Z-Bo and Gay, at least one of them will already be traded.

From TBJ's Fix, yesterday, heard that Kenyon Martin started to consider offers for vet min. but still even Heat went to Chris Andersen. That would be, i guess, ok if we sign Delonte West(don't like him) and Kenyon Martin.

Conley/Bayless
TA/West
Gay/Q-Pon
Z-Bo/Arthur/Leuer
Gasol/Martin/Haddadi

Will take us to most likely through the first round then we will lose.

Hollins said he'll play around with lineups and will experiment with Tony Wroten at the 1, Bayless at the 2, and Allen at the 3.

So Bayless is now playing Ellington's role and Tony Wroten has filled the back-up PG duties

Memphis gave up too much to get under the cap. Here's to hoping it bites them in the ass, just like the Vazquez trade. I have ZERO sympathy for cheapskate billionaires. Memphis was one of the worst franchises in the NBA and it can quickly become that again.

he's just talking about the pieces that the team has. once they officially sign their vet FAs, i expect wroten to be planted exactly where he belongs.

Grizzlies will sign Delonte West and probably two others because of this trade. They are at 11 players and Leuer is not a rotation player. They are supposedly talking to Samardo Samuels, the ex-cav. And say what you want about him, but I would bring in Josh Childress for a workout. Awful with the Nets, but at a pure minimum he could at least be good depth.

Great trade for Memphis. They don't have to trade Gay or anyone else now. I'd say for the Cavs this was a pretty lateral move.

They traded a guy that they picked up off waivers, who only played 91 minutes on the season, for a lottery pick.

A lottery pick?

Its going to be hard for Cleveland to come out of this with a lottery pick. It's protected very well.

It's a bit of a gamble but do you think MEM will make the playoffs for the next 5 years?
If they keep a core of Conley-Gay-Gasol they could, but 5 years in the NBA is an eternity.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.
