You heard it wrong, he got 19 guys to pledge $1m each. That totals $19mm. That's $300m to go. They still have not found a majority owner yet. Basically it was always going to be Ellison or bust, and sounds like Ellison ain't interested.

why didn't he have this coalition before the Seattle group appeared?

I want the Kings in Sacto but seems like this has been mishandled by whatever people with money want to keep 'em there.

Johnson says he wanted to get 3 to 5 people to come in as local owners. In three days, he says 19 people have committed at least $1 million.

please show where it was matched and/or surpassed?

What's this guy's deal? Has some huge grudge against Seattle for some reason.

You should change your title to KJ TRYING to keep the Kings in Sacramento.

Thats too bad. I was hoping to see the Sonics return. Not a whole of interest in the Kings.

I mean.. that should be pretty obvious as to why.

I get the frustration from Kings' fans. But I'm sure in the future when some other team bottoms out financially a team can be stolen from another city and go there. Unfortunately that seems to be the way things are going to be going since expansion just isn't realistic.

Everyone knows Stern will pressure Maloofs to sell the Kings to a Sac group.

He knows they deserve that team and not a city that lost their chance at the NBA

Kevin Johnson is going to announce his big money player at the end of the week. Today's conference is only the beginning.

We are not giving up until the very end.

Does anyone outside of Seattle and Sac really care about this? I don't think anyone would be too sore over the outcome of this, whatever it may be.

Kj has gotten 19 local businessmen to pledge $1 million each towards local ownership. Simple math equates that to $19 million. Long way off. Listening to this makes me feel really bad for Sacramento. People are totally passionate about the kings. Sucks that the nba is run like this. But, we were passionate too here in Seattle. Such is life in the nba.

One thing thy was interesting was that kj said that he thought if they had a local ownership group that could just come close to matching the Seattle offer that the kings would be forced to stay... Seems kind of delusional... But what do I know.

As a Sonics fan I was a little concerned about this presser today but not after seeing it. It sounds like KJ is stalling, there were pledges and that he's working on the big investors but nothing else really. Nothing that we didn't know already. It was the same 5 years ago, the whites knights were there in Seattle 5 years ago but never appeared. :(
