What do you think is going to happen? How many wins do you think they're going to get? Houston is not dropping under .500.

Houston could be under .500 as early as this weekend. They just struggled to beat one of the worst teams in the league, were behind nearly the entire game. Harden is struggling, and none of his scrub teammates can stop being scrubs long enough to help him out on a consistent basis.

Houston is still a game above .500 and the Lakers are 7 below .500. Looking at the lakers schedule over the next 20 games their best case scenario is to play .500 ball, that would still leaves them 7 games below .500. Their last 21 games things don't look any better. If they make the playoffs much respect to them and especially D'Antoni.

Memphis/Cleveland deal is crazy. It is not like Memphis' players were severely overpaid or anything. Can't believe they had to give up a first round pick to do the deal. Note that the pick changes hands only if it is 6-14 in 2015 or 16, top 5 protected in the following two years, and unprotected afterwards.

I don't see the Lakers making it. I don't think hitting .500 will cut it in the west. A lot of variables.

The first being they have to play differently than they have already, obviously.

Next, the middling teams right now (Houston, Minny, Portland) are hitting a wall but you have to figure one or more of those teams will see the other side of that wall. It's what young, volatile teams do.

Last, they're also competing with Dallas. Dallas just got their franchise player back and are looking upward as well.

If they can get the waiver guys they were looking for on expiring deals it makes sense.

Lakers aint making the playoffs.

they still have that super tough Grammy road trip coming up, which they will fail miserably. I think at this point in the season we know which teams are trash and which ones are either playoff bound or contenders. Lakers are a lottery team.

Thugger the only reason you dont wanna give up on LA making the playoffs is because you see a bunch of big names that used to be superstars on the roster. Those names dont count for anything anymore. They're all fossils who can't play defense and just dont fit right together. Kobe and Nash is hands down the worst defensive backcourt in the NBA, and Artest and Howard are shells of their former selves defensively. And even IF they snuck in as an 8th seed, they're a first round out. No way in hell they beat OKC or the Clips in a 7 game series.

This is great news to wake up to. Billy Walker back in the NBA, he'll be raining those 3's and postering some big men.

Thought this was amusing.

Yahoo Sports reports Jermaine O'Neal and GM Lance Blanks "engaged in a loud, expletive-laced confrontation on Monday."
The incident happened immediately following new coach Lindsay Hunter's first practice. O'Neal is not traveling with the team for Wednesday's game against Sacramento and we'd consider him suspended for now. We can only assume that he's unhappy with his role on the dumpster fire known as the Suns. O'Neal is playing just 11.9 minutes per game in January.

Don't know where they get this info, Vujacic is under contract and has no NBA buyout clause.

Fact: In October, Gentry told friends he would be fired and replaced by Hunter, who was given a job created just for him. It was an on-deck circle, a holding pen, and everyone knew it.

Majerle’s bitter departure suggests there were two different coaching staffs on the Suns, one reporting to Gentry, the other to general manager Lance Blanks. Turns out, Gentry had every reason to be paranoid.

That the Suns continue to insist otherwise is a sham, and an insult to our intelligence.

So, that's Dan Majerle, Elston Turner, Jermaine O'Neal and Goran Dragic who took Gentry's side in this whole debacle. I wonder how long Lance Blanks will keep his job.

Oh yeah, and Lindsey Hunter is being investigated by the FBI for mortgage fraud.

What a mess. It's great to finally see other teams dealing with this sort of drama.

At the end of the day, we're just sitting here arguing whether the Knicks are a decent team or a very good team... it's looking like a nice problem to have.

All the players backed the Gentry staff with exception of Beasley and Marshall. O'Neal was named a team captain and I'm sure he was speaking for other players who may not be in a position to be as combative.

Blanks belongs in the pantheon of truly terrible NBA GMs and he has the resume to prove it.
