Did Dwightmare 2013 Trade Deadline Edition Just Begin?

Post#1 » by Trader_Joe » Wed Jan 23, 2013 3:16 am

I cannot believe Dwight Howard.
I cannot believe he's unhappy in LA LA land and seemingly doesn't want to be there.

But I do.
Especially given how dysfunctional the team has been.

Rudolph's report (who is close to Dwight and broke his ETO signing) that three teams were discussing a Dwight to Brooklyn deal was immediately dismissed by the Nets as untrue.

If true...why were these teams even talking? Supposedly LA is not fielding calls for Dwight

If you think it was false, well where did JR get the info or why was he given it? I suppose he could be simply lying.

But..SAS also said Dwight was unhappy and wanted out recently.

The trade deadline is roughly one month away.
Dwight and his agent know this.
Either get to Brooklyn, or another acceptable destination, now...or face a 'decision' in the summer.

Right now I really wonder if he would resign with LA or go to Atlanta..or Dallas.
He probably does too.

Either way..should be a long month.

Unless he really wants to go to the Nets, I don't see him asking to be traded. If he wants to go to the hawks/mavs in the off-season he can just sign there instead of going there and having the team gutted.

Brook Lopez in Brooklyn > Dwight Howard in Brooklyn. Yes, Howard's a better defender but the offense falters, and they're breaking the nascent chemistry the team has built.

Does LA just let him walk and lose him for nothing?

Don't see him ending the year there. But he won't be a Net.

Personally I think LA should trade him. They aren't trading Kobe, and have limited resources to change the team, so its hard to see why Dwight would choose to return to this circus. Based on that, the Lakers should try to get something for him while they can.

The smart decision would be to trade Kobe, Nash, Pau, etc. Basically clean house around Howard, and commit to rebuilding around him. Because Kobe is not leading them to anymore championships as it looks right now. So the smart move would be to keep the young player who has a future, and trade the old guys. But Kobe being a Laker great thats not likely to happen. So they might as well trade Dwight now and get something. Kupchak/Buss created a monster.

Wishful thinking nets fans. He's not leaving LA after living there.

If he really wants to stay in LA, there is always the Clippers.

I don't see Dwight Howard telling the Lakers he won't resign, so they'll probably hold onto him hoping they can get hot and convince him to stay.
Though it would be hilarious to see one of the NBA's biggest difference makers get moved twice in the span of 6 months would be pretty hilarious.
The fact that LA is a desirable spot for FA's (moreso than Orlando) makes me think that the Lakers will probably assume Howard will stay (whether he actually will or not).

Lakers have proven multiple times they know how to build championship teams around a player, albeit the experiment has basically failed this time

Dwight won't leave LA, the only team he would possibly leave for would be the Clippers but they aren't an option. Pau will most likely be traded, and the team will build around Dwight similar to what Orlando did with their 2009 team

JR never said the three teams spoke. He clearly said Billy believed that a trade with Minny would interest LA. LA has already said they are not trading Dwight. It's plain and simple. Rudolph also said dont mistake BK trying to trade for Dwight with Dwight actually wanting out.

There's probably 25 other teams in the league looking to trade for Dwight.

If he isn't dealt to Brooklyn and if they can't bring in someone that makes him want to stay by trading Gasol, he'll sign in Houston or Dallas this summer.

Are you saying there aren't 25 teams in the NBA that want D12 on their team?

The more I think about it, the more I think Dwight will end up gone before the trade deadline this year.
** Embiid is the only MVP in NBA history to never make a conference final
** Philly won multiple playoff games without MVP Embiid, including a 2nd-round game on the road
** LeBron missed the playoffs with Davis
** Steph missed the playoffs without Klay
