The Nellie, a cruising yawl, swung to her anchor
without a flutter of the sails, and was at rest. The flood had
made, the wind was nearly calm, and being bound down
the river, the only thing for it was to come to and wait for
the turn of the tide.

Just to be sure, that's how the book begins right? Wanna make sure my copy is correct

We read it in high school and it was difficult for me to stay interested and keep along lol. It may be a good book, but it was a hard read for me. Granted that was a few years ago so maybe if i pick the book up now i'd think differently

everything is worse in high school - reading, sex, food, etc.

It's been awhile, but this is an easy relatively quick read that is just dark and keep getting darker. Plus it's Apocalypse Now.

Cat's Cradle was pretty awesome too.

Feel free to bump but I'm not sticking because there's already far too many stickies up top and RealGM has fewer topics per page than other forums.

Ty can sticky this if he feels otherwise.

I've started reading today but had some questions about discussion...

1) How far are we allowed to discuss? (We may have different versions of the book so page numbers would be somewhat useless. Also we wouldn't want to accidentally drop a spoiler.)

2) If it's a possible spoiler, can it be discussed? If so, will there be disclaimers saying as such?
