Team Sale Update

Post#1 » by Klomp » Fri Jan 18, 2013 7:13 pm

• Word is interest in buying the Wolves is as high as ever. One potential buyer is former Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley. Multiple sources insist that he's kicking the tires. Before any transaction occurs, the Target Center renovation plans need to be finalized. The Wolves and Minneapolis officials were scheduled to meet on Wednesday.

Heisley? Would Taylor really do that to us? How depressing.

I have no idea how he was as a Grizzlies owner but I don't like former owners of a team buying a new/another team. Unless of course they are the Mark Cuban type of owner. There's just something wrong with that to me.

As long as he says he's committed to spending money, I can care less who takes over. It just needs to happen

Deep pockets, willing to spend. That's all I care about.

Seems like Heisley had a rep for penny pinching but I could be wrong on that. Oh, and there is this:

He orchestrated the move of the team from Vancouver in 2001, after promising to keep the franchise in Vancouver when he purchased it in 2000.

Heisley's the guy that traded Pau Gasol to LAL to save money as well.

However, I don't blame him. I'm not surprised that he didn't want to keep one in VAN or MEM or interest in buying into MIL - all three are small markets with little room to make a profit. Minneapolis is different, and because of our demographics, I don't think he'd move the team. However, I have a lot less faith in the guy going over the lux as I do in Taylor.

With the renovation taking place, how could you not spend a lot of money going into that season?

glenn said that he would remain majority owner for several years still right and slowly little by little sell off into minority....don't care who it goes to so long as they keep the team in minny and don't mind spending big to contend.

That wouldn't be good. They could use the Target Center renovations as a ploy to move the team to Seattle. /Conspiracy.

“@MarkRemme: Stern said been very involved in Glen Taylor's plan for an orderly succession of team ownership down the road.”

Very involved = Rigged Lottery?!?!

Finally he wants to help us. It has only been 20+ years, Stern.
