This is being investigated as a double homicide, not a murder suicide.

I have seen this story on major news sites. My first reaction after viewing the pic of the couple, was to think that the family of the female did not want her to marry an African ( she looks Asian) A hit or perhaps drug-deal gone bad maybe.

The real story is so much more bizarre. The killer's manifesto makes it exponentially moreso.

The leader of the convicted Amish Beard-Cutters is named Samuel Mullet. Coincidence?

got really exciting and pretty unexpected news this morning

Jacqui's JV season is over. She started one game and got fairly
consistent playing time for much of the season but was also often
one of the last players off the bench. Well she called me at work
this morning to tell me she got 'pulled up' to Varsity for the post season
tourneys that begin tomorrow. She was one of 3 JV girls to get pulled up.
So proud of her. She's naturally on cloud nine right now. I'm really
surprised mostly because she seemed like an afterthought for much
of the season. That said, she was the most consistent 3 pt threat
on the team. Give her a clean look and there is a reasonable chance
she can knock it down. Not many JV girls can do that.

I didn't think there was any chance of this happening so I planned
my ski trip with her and her sister to begin THU. She'll at most
be able to participate in one game, unless SLHS makes the
Regional (likely) and wins their first game in Regionals.

Woo, go Seahawks! Our girls team is actually good now? I remember when I was in HS our girls team was awful.

Warriors To Wear Jerseys With Sleeves
Feb 11, 2013 1:35 PM EST

The Golden State Warriors will be the first NBA team to wear a jersey with sleeves.

The Warriors will debut the yellow alternate uniforms on Feb. 22. They will also wear them on March 8 against the Rockets and March 15 against the Bulls.

"It was the right moment, the right team," said Lawrence Norman, Adidas' vice president of global basketball. "Even more important, the right city. When you launch something as innovative as this -- that will change the way the players look on the court and the way the fans support the team forever -- why not launch it in the most innovative part of the United States?"

The uniform is also made with 60 percent recycled material.

"I think it will be a trendsetter," rookie forward Harrison Barnes said. "I think its something it will take people a little bit of time to get used to, but once they do it'll be good. As long as I'm able to shoot and move, that's all that matters."

SLHS Varsity has been in the WaPost top 20 this year.
I believe they were the reg season district champ.

Pre-season district fav Madison suffered some injuries to key players
and SL has a girl, Abbie Rendle who is about 6-4 and has gotten a lot
better in this, her junior year. I think I read where she had a 16 block
game this season. Very intimidating. And she's reasonably adept on
offense as well. She should absolutely crush next year as a senior
assuming she puts in the work over the summer.

WTF?

In an effort to reduce their carbon footprint, and in compliance with new and innovative governing regulations, the Warriors have announced they will now play naked in the dark. "This is exciting," said a Warriors spokesman as he unbuttoned his shirt.

Back in US/DC for a few days on business. Was happy to see while the city is certainly chock full of early 20 somethings wishing DC was New York, it's still chock full of random violent bums.

I actually flew up without needed homestuff for the condo I rented, so I expected to see 5000 CVSes everywhere. Surprisingly, I am just north of the Verizon Center and walked a good 8 blocks west with no CVS in sight!

It is pretty sad the amount of franchises though. 90% of places in the city seem to be horrible mall franchises.

Last note, will be attending the Raptors game tomorrow for old times sake. :)

Don't fret, there's a CVS @ 10th & L, 14th & G, 4th & Mass, 13th & Penn, 8th & E, and there will certainly be one somewhere in the development of the old convention center. CVS isn't a franchise operation, so they only put them where they can get significant business without stealing too much from another location.

Wonder who will get the Gayme winning shot on Tuesday?

There are CVS stores literally everywhere now.
I stopped keeping count a long time ago.
As far as the horrible mall franchises you speak of...
THEY ARE ALL SH*T!
The city has turned into sh*t!

I cant believe they have the nerve to charge people higher rents for all of this sh*t!

I can go to the gulf coast right now and buy a 2 bedroom condo for around 40-50k and have all of those same exact mall stores less than a 1 mile drive away from me plus have year round nice weather for boating, fishing, jet skiing and surfing.

I think I just might do that too. Sooner rather than later.

This is funny coming from a religious capitalist such as yourself, Indu.

When businesses do well, they grow. In doing so, some scale and become "chains." So grow faster by franchising. People buy franchises every day as a means to be in business for themselves while also buying into a proven system. It's a way of minimizing risk.

If people didn't shop at CVS, they wouldn't grow. If people don't like CVS, they shouldn't buy stuff there. There would be less of them.

But there are tons of new and emerging areas of the city eat great food and buy great stuff if you are so inclined. Go to Chinito's Burrito's on Florida Ave, across from Gallaudet. Go to H Street, NE, to 8th & Penn, SE, to 14th St, to U Street, etc. Go to Georgia Ave in Brightwood. Check out Union Market for heaven's sake. Go to the art galleries in trinidad and near H Street. Yeah, F Street now has J Crew and Anthro, but several cool little Euro shops as well.

City is big and diverse enough that if you dont like an area go somewhere else.

Its funny you mentioned diversity because very soon there will be no diversity left in DC.

I know your comments were not directed at me.
I never shop at CVS but they still keep adding stores.
I am seriously considering going somewhere else.

While all the recent arrival, attention seeking, inflated rent paying, kickball playing idiots are snowball fighting and wearing no pants in freezing temperatures I will be on a beach somewhere (with my Capital Centre cred and my native DC cred) enjoying 80+ degree temperatures in January.

I think the yuppie scum in DC are behind the recent proliferation of double, triple, and quadruple posts on the Wizards board.

Just wondering what peoples's random thoughts were on the Mike Montgomery shove of Allan Crabbe. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the ... ncaab.html

If a player did that to a coach, would/should the penalty (or actually non-penalty) have been the same?
