Blockbuster 4 team trade

Post#1 » by jfg » Sat Feb 16, 2013 2:31 am

LA out: Dwight Howard
LA in: Kevin Love, Spencer Hawes

Utah out: Al Jefferson, Derek Favors, Enes Kanter
Utah in: Dwight Howard, Derek Williams

Philly out: Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes
Philly in: Al Jefferson

Min out: Kevin Love, Derek Williams
Min in: Derek Favors, Enes Kanter, Evan Turner

Lots of plusses for all sides. LA loses a headache while bringing in the hometown kid, Utah gets a true center while getting rid of their logjam frontcourt for a big return, Philly gets a center they can resign, Minnesota gets ready to play at a high level guys who've been blocked. All of this would be contingent on Dwight Howard agreeing to resign in Utah.

Besides Dwight never re-signing in Utah...this isn't too bad, IMO.

If we had to trade Love, Favors/Kanter/Turner is a nice rebuild. We could then afford to trade Pek or S&T.

Agree with both points.

Seeing as Love is signed for the next couple years and Dwight isn't, I think unless the team trading for him has a commitment to resign, Love has more value than D12.

Yeah, this definitely all hinges on Dwight wanting to play in Utah for the long run. But, looking at his discontent in LA, it's not about location so I wouldn't dismiss the idea.

Of course its not about location, practically every star player wants to be in a market like LA. Utah? Not so much

This is a good trade, if unlikely because of all the big players moving around. Even if DH resigns, Utah gets the short end of the stick regardless of the fact that by conventional standards they're getting the "best player." Sometimes that happens.

For the record, Dwight Howard wants to live in magical fairyland where everything is wonderful all the time. He's going to be unhappy wherever he goes.

Dwights fairyland was in Orlando ... and he pissed that down his leg.

No way Utah does this trade.

I'd be willing to do it, though. The value is there although I'd rather we got a real shooter back in this deal.

Edit: That is obviously under assumption that this unlikely trade would in fact happen. But it won't. Just for theoretic purposes :D

Favors and Kantor are about to become the best front court in the NBA for the next 10 years...why would they mortgage that for brokeback (literally) Howard and mediocre DWill?
