The Josh Smith eventually to the Bucks thread (maybe)

Wasn't sure if this was worth starting a new thread, this is what he tweeted.

There r whispers Bucks r in Josh Smith Sweepstakes.

I don't know why we would be. He hates Milwaukee and we need to be focusing on the backcourt, not the front court.

Maybe we are the 3rd team? Teague + 1st?

Unless he's willing to sign an extension or we get something else back in a 3 way deal, then there isn't much to discuss with Josh Smith. Not sure why he'd sign an extension here and not Atlanta tho. The guy has gone on record saying how much he dislikes Milwaukee...

He'd certainly be an interesting fit next to Sanders if he were willing to commit long term tho.

It would certainly would be a Bucks move to trade him without any chance of resigning him tho, we must get that 8th seed at all costs!

This would be a better outcome imo.

Why are we trading for the power forward version of Monta Ellis? That comparison is only offensively btw, defensively Smoove is pretty stellar.

Enough with Teague ugh....

If Monta Ellis was as good of a player on defense as Josh Smith, we'd probably wouldn't hate him as much. He isn't even the offensive player Josh Smith is tbf.

http://journaltimes.com/sports/basketba ... 963f4.html

I’ve heard for a few weeks now that Boston is salivating over Atlanta forward Josh Smith and would be receptive to unloading Brandon Bass and Jeff Green to obtain him.

It’s no secret Brooklyn wouldn’t mind Smith, either. The Nets, some league officials insist, apparently are offering forward Kris Humphries and swingman MarShon Brooks.

One team that hasn’t been publicly mentioned in the Smith Sweepstakes is Milwaukee, although there are whispers the Bucks are interested. The Bucks are in position to offer the Hawks as good of a deal as anyone for Smith, especially if Jennings or Ellis is involved. Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova, whom the Nets seriously courted during free agency last summer and are still interested in, could also come into play.

Can Smith play SF? I would love this trade. Put him together with Monta (his buddy) and he may be willing to sign an extension. He's worth far more money than Jennings.

He's one of those PF that like to think they are a SF, he's a much more natural fit at the 4. The less jumpers he's taking the better.

I love Josh Smith's game but adding him makes no sense unless we also trade for a SG or SF that can shoot the basketball. Color me intrigued.

I assume Josh will want the max especially here in Milwaukee if even willing to sign here at all.

Would be an interesting rental for 1/2 a season if we didn't give up anything substantial (unlikely).

Trading for soon to be free agents who dislike Milwaukee is just a great idea though. As great an idea as chasing the 8th seed each year..as trading for aging 30+ year old cancer wings..as devaluing your best trade assets by including anchor contracts..as refusing to rebuild through the draft..as combining Ellis with Jennings, etc.
Go Bucks!

This would be a moronic move if we can't do it for expirings, which isn't happening. Smith's chances of re-signing here are zero percent. Obviously, if it's part of a package deal with Teague or something, then that's a different discussion.

So you'd extend Ellis then? Umm, hell no. Smith isn't signing an extension here and re-signing Monta would be moronic beyond words.

And no, he can't play SF.

This is a great move because Josh Smith is one of the few all stars who would sign a long term deal in MIL!!

josh smith on milwaukee

“Would you go there?” Smith asked. “Everybody knows there ain’t nothing to do in Milwaukee, man. Everybody knows that, (even) the people that live there.”

great idea hammond, Lets trade monta for him!

Smith/Ersan/Henson/Gooden on the roster

F this team

He can guard SF's but on offense he can do his damage around the basket. Sadly he is shooting a ton of long 2's this year at an awful percentage and is barely shooting over 50% on free throws. If there was a PF he could play SF along side it would be Ersan since he doesn't always sit underneath the basket but Smith is a complete idiot. He does a lot of dumb things with the ball that will remind you a lot of the swag twins.

This is the dumbest idea I've heard in a very long time. It's one thing to have your own players end up disliking Milwaukee after a few seasons, it's another to bring in a player that has publicly stated his displeasure for Milwaukee. That's not even a ticking time bomb...that's a straight up nuke drop for our franchise to bring this guy in.

If for whatever reason we did bring him in (which I hope we don't) I would want Teague and a 1st coming back as well. Maybe it's a steep price for Atlanta, but there is no reason Milwaukee should be even sniffing at Josh Smith, no matter how good the guy is on the court. Does team chemistry not mean a thing to John Hammond and Herb Kohl?!

Jennings + Ilyasova + something else

for

Josh Smith + Jeff Teague + 1st round pick

You have to wonder what the deal would be

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
