Gortat to OKC for Perk+JLamb+1st Rumor

Post#1 » by Badgerlander » Wed Feb 20, 2013 1:36 pm

another source said there was All-Star break talk of Oklahoma City exploring Marcin Gortat and P.J. Tucker for Kendrick Perkins, Jeremy Lamb and a first-round pick.

I thought this deserved it's own thread, since we can put together a better package for what probably is the Raptors 1st along with Jeremy Lamb to dump Perks salary. Why aren't we chasing deals like this instead of giving up our 1st+Moute for the right to pay soon to be 29 year old back-up Redick 10mil per year, and Josh Smith the Max? smh

I'd offer them Dalembert & Moute for Lamb, Perkins, and either Jones III or their 1st round pick. I'm guessing they view Gortat much higher than Dalembert though.

Id make em a deal that didnt even include their first if they wanted. I just want Lamb. Perk can take up garbage minutes at C.

I wouldn't even need their pick or Jones III. Lamb and Perkins would be fine.

That's what I'm thinking too. Perkins can be your back-up center for the next couple years. He's a little high priced, but at least stability behind Sanders. And getting Lamb is the key to the deal. Moute is definitely built to help a contender and Dalembert can play well in spurts as we've seen.

Here's what I cooked up using the trade machine. Send the Thunder 1st and Bucks 1st to the Hornets.

Hammond probably scared to call Presti. Worried that Presti's "luck" will result in a bad trade for us.

I've said before I'd be happy to absorb Perk's last two years to get Lamb, but that willingness is a factor of my esteem for Lamb. If you don't like Lamb that much, you obviously won't do it. Unless for some reason you love Perk. Obviously if a first was in there, all the better.

Instead of giving up a 1st and Moute for Redick, get in this deal and send Dally to PHX for Dudley.

We have the assets to go get JLamb and probably Bledsoe if we had the damn sense to try. It's frustrating to watch this FO chase $10million dollar (lol) Redick and Max JSmith. Hell Houston is even floating TJones for a 1st. I bet we could trade them Moute for him straight up. We would still have enough veteran leadership on the team to get the precious 8th seed.

How much better off would this franchise be if all of our bad contracts were from taking other people's garbage+1st round pick? Instead we sign the garbage in free agency and then pay others to take it off our hands a year or two later.

Either the Bucks have the assets to pull a deal off like this: Lamb/Perkins for Dalembert & parts; or it's a pretty open admission that the lineup's value is lower than advertised. Who assembled the roster?

Of course, there is also the question of: Can't vs Won't

Why would we want a player like Kyrie Irving though? The Cavs aren't getting the 8th seed this year.

Could OKC move Perkins to Suns?
February, 20, 2013 9:34 AM ET
By Nick Borges | ESPN.com

There has been some talk that Oklahoma City wants to deal Eric Maynor which hasn't gone far. Now we get word from Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic that the team might be looking to move Kendrick Perkins to the Phoenix Suns.

Coro writes: "Another source said there was All-Star break talk of Oklahoma City exploring Marcin Gortat and P.J. Tucker for Kendrick Perkins, Jeremy Lamb and a first-round pick."
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/nba/rumors/

The Suns currently have about $6.44 million in salary cap room, however they will likely only bring back players with expiring contracts to preserve their 2013-14 cap room.

Gortat has one more year and $7.72 million on his deal, while Tucker's 2013-14 minimum salary is not guaranteed.

Perkins is owed $17.63 million over the last two years of his contract. Lamb is in year one of his rookie-scale deal.

The Thunder are eager to deal Perkins as it would reduce their tax bill starting in 2013-14.
