Haven't really checked, but do people still have Durant as a candidate? LBJ has won both head to head matchups in convincing fashion (including overcoming the officiating in both matchups).

It ain't over 'til it's over. Despite these past 2 weeks, Durant was a heavy favorite given the team record and voter fatigue. Anything can happen in these last 30 odd games, but Lebron is the current favorite.

Missed too many games. In a race this close, even minor things like games played will be taken into account.

Why isn't Josh Smith being considered? He is clearly the only reason the Hawks aren't dead last in the league. Horrible, Horrible team with out J-Smooooooooooth.

Its hard to win MVP when you are going up against 2 of the best players ever, both of which are in their prime or entering their prime.

If it was called "offensive MVP" then Durant would get the nod right now. But we all know that what's done on the defensive end is taken into consideration. That's why it's James right now and it's no that close.

So offense doesn't include playmaking now?

No sir, nobody cares about playmaking. Being a -slightly- better jumpshooter and worse in every other single offensive skill makes you a better offensive player. Didn't ya know that?

No he wouldnt.Lebron would still be the MVP.

Offense is not just scoring and lebron is doing that just as good.

Yeah, you do have a point. Not sure how much "playmaking' criteria factors in with the voters.

Duant was not a heavy favorite by any means most media types were 50/50 on it and their minds are pretty much made up now.

It would be a travesty is Durant won "Offensive MVP" over Lebron.. Lebron is doing the same scoing at similar efficiency and is one of the best playmakers in the game

Durant is more efficient at scoring the ball than Lebron. Durant is not the better offensive player than Lebron. You take defense into account, and it is a bit of a joke. Though MVP voters don't take defense into account really. That is why Durant even has a chance if he blows up or Lebron struggles a bit.

He's more efficient at scoring the ball purely on the amount of free throws he gets. LeBron has a sizeable lead in eFG% which takes the subjective element of referees out of the equation.
