Can Wade reach 1000 blocks?
Last night he made he made history being the only guard to block 676 shots...Do you think he can reach 1000?

He won't reach 1000. A better question is if he can pass Michael Jordan's record of 893 blocks

Re: Can Wade reach 1000 blocks?
almost 10 years to reach 676
So he would need another five years on high level...so the answer is no.
Of course he "can" but he wont...

Correction: Only guard standing 6'4 or below.
Nice accomplishment and very impressive, but I don't quite understand the level of hype it's getting when it's determined by height. I mean, Wade has a freakish wingspan. That has to count for something.

Unfortunately, wingspan keeps getting underrated despite being one of the most important physical aspects of a player.
About Wade now. He certainly is an amazing shot blocker for a guard but I don't think that he can reach 1000 blocks. He won't play so many seasons in order to do it. If he played until his 40s then he could do it.

And inconsistent height listings. Wade is 3 inches taller than Ben Gordon and the same height as Tyreke Evans.

Huh, Tyreke is 6'6. Doubt Wade Wade gets 1000, will stil go down as the best shot blocking guard in history though IMO.

Which you got from a website listing, hence me referring to them as "inconsistent height listings".
http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/
Evans and Wade are both 6'4" without shoes. Okay 6'3.75" for Wade, basically the same thing. Both should be listed at 6'5" in shoes. Ben Gordon should be listed at 6'2" in shoes. Michael Beasley should be listed at 6'8", Iguodala at 6'7", Love at 6'9", Nash at 6'2", Chris Paul 6'1", etc. etc.
Inconsistent height listings.

Wade is not even a legitimate 6'4. In his rookie season it was easier to tell he was a small guard. Nowadays he comes off bigger.
Great feat for him to reach this milestone. Like Barkely, Wade defied the odds at his height.

True, but Wade isn't 6"4. Everyone in the locker room from Lebron, Haslem, and even Sooelstra have said that 6"3 is being generous.
I don't think he'll reach 1000 -- but I don't think it's unreasonable for him to get close. I expect he'll get in the high 800s like Jordan -- which will still be impressive considering he's considerably shorter, will probably have a shorter career, and Jordan was a great shot-blocking guard to begin with.

Lol what is this nonsense.

There are official pre-draft measurements done every year. Wade is 1 inch shorter than Redd, 2 inches taller than Deron Williams, the same height as Tyreke Evans, etc. Wade is 6'5" in shoes.

There were no odds to defy for Wade. At 6'5" in shoes, 220+ pounds, with a 6'11" wingspan, and to top it all off great athleticism, he has above average physical attributes for his position.

You were just making a case that Heat organization says 6'3 is generous. This is a head scratcher.

Re: Can Wade reach 1000 blocks?
This nonsense on how he's an "undersized" guard needs to stop. Kobe and MJ are legit 6'6 shooting guards and that is now the prototype, but most of the 2 guards in the league these days are between 6'3-6'6. Wade's head is an inch or two lower than Kobe's head, which doesn't really mean much because they both have the same wingspan. You can even argue that Wade is probably heavier than Bryant, and more athletic. Combine that freakish length with Wade's ridiculous explosiveness, and strength and you have a recipe for a very effective player.

Umm no, I disagreed with the guy who said that, just like I disagreed with what you said.

But the "only guard to block 676 shots" was based on height.
Morten Jensen wrote:Correction: Only guard standing 6'4 or below.
I was just correcting how Wade is perceived relative to his position, because not only is his height (6'4 without shoes and 6'5 with shoes) average for a SG, he's overall physically above average thanks to his weight, wingspan, and athleticism.

Of course he "can" but he wont...
He got 676 blocks in the 679 games he's played. Seeing as there are 82 games a season, and assuming he keeps the same rate which is roughly a block a game. He'd have 1004 blocks in 4 more seasons not including the rest of this season.
So it's semi do-able.
Edit: I see what your saying but I refuse to remove my comment.

There are 82 games per season but Wade is definitely not playing 82 games per season. Last season's 0.8 blocks per game, and 70 games per season (probably generous) are good estimates. Give him another 50 or so blocks for this season, and then afterwards, using those estimates, he would need another 5 seasons to reach 1000. I don't see it happening. Jordan's 893 is a more realistic possibility.
