Agreed. God, I miss him so much.

Everyone here wanted to believe that Kreis wouldn't be able to do what he did with a small market, low spending team to the largest market, heavy spending and big name team. Truth is, I believe he's perfect for the job. I'm excited to see him return to MLS after a one year absence. Especially when he comes to Utah this year. I might cry a little bit.

Definitely will turn up to watch. Bought tickets to the first home game. Will be exciting for sure to see what lineup they roll out there.

No shockers. 4-5-1 set maybe, but with Villa and Nemec, maybe a 4-4-2.

well it wouldn't be a NYC soccer team if we didn't give up the difference making goal in stoppage time or hand one to them in the first 5

Saw the game, it was exciting...In NY a few bars were packed and having a great time watching the game.

Turned out to be a good one...62,000 in attendance. Kaka scored and Mix scored on a assist from Villa

New York City FC opens entire Yankee Stadium for MLS home debut against New England Revolution

Orlando City hosted their first MLS home game over the weekend with a huge crowd at the Citrus Bowl. Their opponent in that match and fellow expansion team, New York City FC, are looking to welcome a big group as well for their home opener.

NYCFC announced on Monday that they will open the 400 level at Yankee Stadium due to the high demand for their first home game, which will take place on Sunday against the New England Revolution (5 pm ET, ESPN2). Though normal capacity for NYCFC games at the stadium is expected to be be 27,528, more than 30,000 tickets have been sold already for the game.

“Demand for seats for this historic game has been tremendous and momentum is growing by the day," said NYCFC president Tom Glick in a team statement. "It was only 10 days ago that we announced that the 300 level will be open. Now with more than 30,000 sold, we have decided to open even more seats. New Yorkers clearly want to be part of this landmark moment for our club and for soccer and we are giving them every opportunity to come and support their new team.”

In addition to expanding capacity for Sunday's game, the club also announced that it has reached 15,000 season ticket holders for the 2015 season. According to NYCFC, more than 60 percent of those fans have never before purchased season tickets in any sport in the market.

Can we talk about the horrible pitch conditions? NYCFC needs their own stadium.

Didn't end up seeing the end of the game but the parts I saw looked horrible. It looked like a joke to be honest, like they were playing in someone's backyard. Even the camera angles were terrible.

I wonder what the pitch will look like now that the Yankees have played on it.

NYCFC deserves their own stadium. They honestly shouldn't have been given a franchise without one.

New York City FC's Tony Taylor out for season following ACL injury on Sunday vs. Portland Timbers

New York City FC forward Tony Taylor will be lost for the rest of the MLS season after it was revealed he ruptured his left ACL and damaged his LCL in Sunday’s match against the Portland Timbers, the club announced Tuesday.

The injury to the 25-year-old Taylor, the 10th pick in the 2014 Expansion Draft following his first MLS season with the New England Revolution, occurred in the 33rd minute of NYCFC’s 1-0 loss at Yankee Stadium.

“It’s always very disappointing when you see a player suffer a serious injury,” New York City FC head coach Jason Kreis said in a team statement. “Tony is a great young professional, and I know his teammates are going to miss him on the field.

"Everyone at New York City FC is 100 percent behind him in his recovery and will be there to help every step of the way. I know that Tony will receive the best medical support, and I’m confident that he’ll come back fitter and stronger than ever.”
