Week 3: Eagles vs Jets | Sunday, Sep 27th, 1:00 PM | FOX

Post#1 » by Rich Rane » Sun Sep 27, 2015 2:24 pm

This whole week, I've seen this game labeled anywhere from "easy win" to "trap game" to "the game where to "the game where the Eagles turn it around".

Revis (groin) will play while Ivory (quadricep) and Decker (knee) will be game time decisions though I hear Decker will sit and the Jets o-line may be without Willie Colon (knee) who is listed as questionable. Owusu (knee) is out so hopefully Kerley steps up as Devin Smith will most likely be making his NFL debut today.

On the Eagles, they'll be without Kiko Alonso (ACL), Mychal Kendricks (hamstring), and Cedric Thornton (hand). DeMarco Murray (hamstring) was limited in practice this week, but will play while Josh Huff (hamstring) was a late addition to their injury report and is listed as questionable.

This is a game where as a Jets fan I should expect to lose as everything's been going well for the most part and they face a team that's been going in the complete opposite direction. However, a Jets win will have to come the way of the last 2 as the Jets d-line has to batter their o-line while the secondary doesn't give Bradford anything to throw at. Give the Jets offense short fields to work with and the Jets should be 3-0 by the end of the game.

Chip Kelly has randomly been calling way more pass plays than need be, when Bradford really isn't all that great a QB. Rush him often and that'll be the key to shutting down an Eagles offense that's been stagnant.

Let's hope the Jets can keep up the defensive pressure and Fitz can capitalize

I was hoping Decker would play. Either way, we should be able to get this win at home. 3-0 really would be a sweet start to the season.

DeMarco Murray is listed as inactive for today as well. Sproles along with Ryan Matthews will be filling in, but also suffered a hamstring injury during the week.

Ugh, they let the Eagles run them into the red zone and they finally started to play. Still sucks having to give them any points.

O-line is still inconsistent with run blocking. Might have to open up the run by passing and that might be a lot to ask for with Decker out.

And that's 2 straight three and outs to start the game.

GOTTA jam Sproles on the line when he goes out on the pass.

Great call on that play-action on that 3rd and short, AND TO A TE (Cumberland)! But I'd rather hit Marshall on a route than having him catch on a backwards throw. I also complain about Quigley enough, but that's 2 straight good punts.

And a punt returned for a TD. Now they have to ask a Jets QB to play 2 scores down. Life as a Jets fan.

Not even considering running on 3rd and short. You could say it's weird playcalling, but this Jets o-line isn't blocking well. Kind of uninspiring play on both sides of the ball. On defense, there's no pressure on Bradford, blown coverage in the secondary that could've led to huge gains had it not been for drops, and they can't tackle (not even talking about just Sproles's punt return).

Defense needs to go into lockdown mode. Sproles is dangerous on the PR but you can't give that up. Defense is good enough to shut their offense down but special teams has got to pick it up there.

Fitzpatrick just needs one TD to get back into this. Not too much to ask of him.

It can be if Jets defense doesn't force a turnover to give him a super shortened field.

17-0 looks like 34-0 at the moment. Jets teams playing without any passion. Best Jet today might be Ryan Quigley.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING, BRANDON MARSHALL?!

Why is it that the Eagles historically own us of all people? And why did they choose now of all times to start playing okay?

Yeah, on days when the defense doesn't have it, this team is pretty much going to be dysfunctional all around.

All Jets fans know this. They rely too much on defense to hide the offense's inefficiencies and when they can't, you're looking at a 22 players on the field all not playing for the Jets.

If you're gonna have a bad game all around, get it all out in one game. Funny part is they arent that far down to pull it off.

There was just no urgency at any point in this game by the offense even on the scoring drives.

Perfect way to end that listless, awful performance. I feel like Ivory would have made a big difference in this one since he's good at picking up yards after initial contact, but that's no excuse for how these guys performed today on every side of the ball and every which way.

Fitzpatrick looked like he was missing Decker as well. He had no chemistry at all with Devin Smith (who played well in his NFL debut by the way) and they were doubling Marshall nearly every play.

With that said, this team SUCKED today. Defense absolutely imploded that first half. Marshall throwing a lateral to the other team didn't help either.

Then in the second half, Fitzpatrick just kept underthrowing every receiver he looked at as well. Was it chemistry or was it lack of arm strength? Ivory was missed, but the run blocking was once again atrocious. Gailey needs to find ways to hit receivers in stride going across the field, especially on plays you're going with five wideouts. Once again with the Jets rule book however: YOU CAN'T LET THE OFFENSE WIN GAMES FOR YOU.

For real. The offense decided it was gonna be easy. Even though Fotz isnt a long thrower i didnt think those passes were completely out of reach. The defense imo never tried.

At least not until they let the Eagles offense score 17 on them. None of them decided to give a little more effort to start tackling until the second half.

And that last pick was definitely more on Marshall than on Fitzpatrick. He didn't stretch his arms one bit to haul in that pass and it even hit his hand.
