Re: Ryan Mallet
I just heard that Mallet is practicing with the third string after missing practice yesterday.
What's going on with this situation? Is this going to become a huge distraction?

Re: Ryan Mallet
I understand a guy being pissed about not being named the starter, but pouting about it and missing practice isn't really the best way to prove your coach made the wrong decision. Go out and earn it.
I don't think either him or Hoyer have looked very impressive so far anyways. BOB has already said he doesn't intend to play the starters very much tomorrow like most teams would normally do in a 3rd preseason game, so I guess we might see a lot more of Savage. Very curious to see how good he can be as he continues to develop.

We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Re: Ryan Mallet
Mallet should keep the job now. Hoyer had a shocker yesterday.

Good to know that they have things under control down on Kirby.

Re: Ryan Mallet
I'm happy to hear this. I was worried BOB might stick with Hoyer for at least another game or two, albeit with an expectedly short leash.
I don't know if Mallett will succeed or not, but I look forward to him throwing deep to Hopkins on a regular basis.

Texans have started 5 different QB's in the past 10 months.

Re: Ryan Mallet
Mallet can stay on the bench after his display last night. He got a little winded and walked himself off then just expected to go straight back in. I don't understand what made him think he has earnt that. Then spent the rest of the game on the verge of tearing up because Hoyer played well.
Neither are a solution at qb but just stick with Hoyer now, he will at least provide a steady hand although far from spectacular. Mallet needs to grow up.

He's a bitch. Hoyer is a much better professional even if there isn't much separating either talent-wise.

A friend is an Arkansas alumnus who follows their football program with the insane fervor we all expect from SEC football fans. He has been telling me since last year that Mallet had a reputation of being a bit of a Diva while he was up in school. I didn't want to believe it, but so far this season he has not won over many people.

He can be arrogant or he can be bad, can't do both. He could probably get away with it at Arkansas but at nfl level he's really a nobody.

And that is what is so frustrating. This is the best that the Texans have!
I don't want to see a repeat of Andre Johnson's career with J.J. Watt.

Re: Ryan Mallet
I wouldn't mind taking a shot with RG3. I don't know how well he'd do here - this entire team feels dysfunctional both on and off of the field.
Who else is out there? Tebow? Grossman?

This is why I don't get the TJ Yates singing. They could just about give anyone else a shot like RG3, Sanchez or even someone like Matt Barkley to see if they can find someone the offense can make better. Instead they go back to the same unimaginative retread crap.

Re: Ryan Mallet
Would've far preferred taking a chance on RG3 but at least Hoyer is providing some consistency right now. Sadly i feel we will win enough games to stay in no mans land come draft night.
