2016 NY Jets Draft Thread - All Picks are In!

The draft is tonight! Yeah!

Picks:

Round 1: 20th overall pick - Darron Lee, Sophomore OLB from Ohio State
Round 2: 51st overall pick - Christian Hackenberg, Junior QB from Penn State
Round 3: 83rd overall pick - Jordan Jenkins, Senior OLB from Georgia
Round 4: 118th overall pick - Juston Burris, Junior CB from North Carolina State
Round 5 (via Redskins): 158th overall - Brandon Shell, Senior OT from South Carolina
Round 7 (via Bears): 235th overall - Lachlan Edwards, Senior punter from Sam Houston State
Round 7: 241st overall - Charone Peake, Senior WR from Clemson University

Figured this was important enough to be differentiated from the offseason thread. A current mock has us taking Georgia OLB Leonard Floyd at 20th, which is cool, I guess! I will update when we make our picks. Some draft mocks also had us taking Ezekiel Elliott early on, but I doubt that happens now that we have 3 RB's.

My knowledge of the prospects are limited, but hopefully we can do something to fix our TE situation, and some of our defense that's taken a hit.

We have so many holes or spots that will become holes soon (like WR and CB) that BPA probably works at 20 or trading down. I hope we get something for Wilkerson as much as I'd hate to see him go. We could really use an OLB, ILB, CB, WR and some O-Line help too and we don't have enough damned picks.

Bears just traded up to get Floyd at 9. This dude Laremy Tunsil, who was projected to go 3rd just fell past 10 because an hour before the draft, someone hacked his Twitter and posted a video of him smoking weed. Massive talent but looks to be a headcase. Still lots of QB's on the board if we go that way, but I doubt Mac will.

Shaq Lawson to Buffalo at 19. Jets are on the clock with Jack still on the board.

Love it. Solid pick. Arguably BPA and fills a need as a speed passrusher who also has good cover skills.

Yeah, I really like the pick. Kinda overlooked Lee, thought he'd be off the board a bit sooner. I wanted a LB with impact ability and we got one. Wouldn't have minded trading down and going after Ragland, but I like this move better than what we'd probably have garnered trading back a bit and then reaching some.

I was praying that those weed pictures would make Tunsil drop to us but I am happy with the pick overall. Im glad we didnt force a gamble with myles jack. Finally the Jets drafted a first round OLB. This will be huge if he pans out. Big need for years

Not enthralled with the day two picks. Another project QB, but I think with more upside so I'll give Gailey time to build him and a LB who really doesn't jump out and grab my attention but the depth is needed. I really wanted O-Line addressed in the first 3 rounds, so I'm a little bit disappointed but Mac seems like a man with a plan and I'll give him the benefit of letting these players show us something for a couple years.

Seems like Bowles and Mac are really concerned about line defense. If so, Jenkins and Lee are the picks to make. Burris at least gives us an option at CB next year if Revis is hurt, or if Skrine/Williams don't get the job done. Could try him at nickel or swap him over to safety.

Interesting UDFA's.

Lachlan Edwards, a 6'5" punter, apparently never played American Football before 2012. Apparently is a star player in Australian Football though (which I believe is very similar to Ruby).

Watched some clips of Dahon Taylor and he's a very strong, aggressive 6'7" 310lb OT. Looked very active and athletic, overpowering and holding opposing DE's. Not played against the greatest competition though I don't believe.

Let's hope some of them pan out.

For posterity my picks would have been:

Paxton Lynch QB but would have preferred trade down with Cowboys for their #2 Myles Jack OLB or Reggie Ragland ILB if they passed medicals or Jason Spriggs LT and their #3 pick used on Shilique Calhoun Edge.

The Jet second rounder on Cody Whitehair OG but likely better than Giacomini now at RT
With their third rounder I wouldn't have been able to pass on Andrew Billings DT
Fourth Round Devontae Booker RB
Seventh Charone Peake WR was a steal
The second seventh round pick on Mr. Irrelevant Kalan Reed CB

I like to look back at these in a couple of years and realize how ignorant I am.
