Week 1: Bears at Texans (noon)
This will be the first time since 2012 these play each other. Should be a great test for the Bears on both sides of the ball. Hopkins was killing the league with Hoyer as his QB now he's one year older and Brock will at least be better than his predecessor. They also have a formidable oline blocking for Lamar Miller, one of the most underrated and versatile RBs in the NFL. We'll see if the CBs can pickup where they left off and if our run defense has improved (I'm hoping for this game no since I have Lamar Miller in fantasy).
The Texans defense speaks for itself and the Bears have a lot to prove. Can the oline block? Can alson play a week one game without getting hurt? Is Kevin White actually any good? Can our RBs replace Forte? Was Miller just a flash in a pan? Can Cutler build off what I believe was his most efficient season ? Theoretically, this offense should be one of the best but this team likes to disappoint since lovie left.
Overall, since there's so little optimism compared to previous seasons, this game should be our first win in a Superbowl season .

I think this will be an excellent test for our defense. Our corners held up really well last year even though we had no pass rush. If we can get consistent pressure then maybe our secondary can actually make some plays on the ball.
Offensively, there's no doubt our OLine will be tested. But Ling and Massie are powerful beasts so hopefully that combo can slow down Watt.

early pick by Porter and some nice balance between run and pass and we score first on a Langford td run
This O-Line is gonna be beastly a year from now

Only ONE time last year did we lead at the end of the 1st quarter and we won that game against Oakland so things are looking up so far .

Since when did jay become Drew Bledsoe ? There are plays when there is 3rd down and less than 5 where he you have to put him a position he can make a play with his legs . We have too many plays that are DOA in key short yardage situations thats not on jay thats the OC though.

Re: Week 1: Bears at Texans (noon)
Bears defense has been fantastic on the road .
Offense has been unable to develop a rhythm in the second half . On the first drive of the second half White stopped short on a route basically causing a pick by jay and jay has not even looked his way again . He needs to go back to white because you are trying to develop him . ...
Alshon wants big money but somehow doesn't realize 3rd down is the money down and he keeps dropping big 3rd down balls .
Id like to see us get Howard a couple of touches in this game

Our offensive tackles got worked and top 2 receivers mad key mistakes. Recipe for a loss. Cutler was the only one still playing at the end.

First half I was thinking that the team might be better than we expected.
2nd half I could barely watch

It was three things. First our tackles were terrible. Second, Kevin White's inexperience probably hurt us the most. And finally we couldn't keep up with fuller.
The fuller thing is most worrisome because that's a weakness that can be improved unless we add someone and team can exploit that. The other two things can be improved as time goes on. I'm not to worried about the oline because last season we started slow and improved greatly as the weeks went on.

Re: Week 1: Bears at Texans (noon)
Tracy Porter did look a step slow, but his actually coverage when he was on someone without superhuman speed was really good. That 4.3 speed showed for Fuller. That's why I think CB is our #1 need and has been at the top of the lost for a while.
With how offenses are built now you need a guy that can cover big possession receivers, a guy that can cover speed demons, and of course a nickel that can do a little of both and make those reads inside. But you need a big corner and a speed corner on the outside

Texans adjusted, and Bears didn't.
Anyone else question the play calls by Loggains? Felt like with this oline going up against that front 7, they should have called more quick pass plays. Also wonder why they didn't use Carey when long wasn't really getting any results, especially in that 2nd half.

Re: Week 1: Bears at Texans (noon)
We were so thin in the secondary I expected that Fuller would likely have chances to exploit us and if it wasn't for that drop it would've been worse. We had to try to focus on Hopkins and we were decent in that regard. Porter did look good for the most part.
The issues that stuck out the most:
Massie looks like the guy that no Cardinals fan was upset to see go elsewhere.
White's inexperience.
Loggains was incredibly predictive in his play calling.
No pass rush.
No adjustments at half.

The play calling and preparation was ridiculous offensively at times . Where are the bootlegs ? rollouts ?read option ? on those 3rd down plays . We lost one of the most prolific pass catching rbs of all time in Forte ,Bennett is a much bigger threat than Miller and we have a QB with very good mobility . You've got to put him position to make the play there simply is not anyone else to go to .
