The Braves have announced interviewing 4 internal options, Snitker, Perez, Pendleton and Porter. They have scheduled some interviews with outside options in the next few days.

I think Roger did a great job during his 11 year tenure with the Braves.

Agreed:

I remember reading a few pundits mid-season suggest this could happen as Roger is more adept at managing a veteran staff than developing younger arms.
If he wants to coach again, there will be a long line of teams looking to sign him. But 11 years is a long time to grow roots in an area. This has to be tough on his family.

From the story above:
...at least one high-ranking team official wasn’t satisfied with the development of young pitchers under McDowell. With the team’s ongoing rebuild centered in large part around the many pitching prospects, the Braves are expected to hire a pitching coach with a strong reputation for working with young pitchers.
One of the top candidates for the managerial position, Bud Black, is a former major league pitcher who was lauded for his work with young pitchers as manager in San Diego.
Black or Braves interim manager Brian Snitker is expected to be named Braves manager, and whomever gets that job is likely to have a lot of input in the hiring of the new pitching coach, if not given full authority to select him.
Other Braves coaches haven’t been notified yet of their status for 2017, but the coaching staff is expected to remain largely intact if Snitker is manager. There would likely be at least a few more changes if Black gets the job.
One possible candidate for pitching coach could be former Triple-A Gwinnett pitching coach Marty Reed, particularly if the Braves make Snitker the permanent manager. Reed was promoted to the major league staff in May when Snitker was promoted from Gwinnett manager to replace fired Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez, and young pitchers have consistently praised Reed, as have Snitker and Braves officials.

I think the plan was to make Perez or Terry P. the manager this year, but the great job Snitker did has made it impossible to give that job to anybody else, internally.
If Perez does get the job with Colorado then I wish him all the best.

You've probably got some good Eddie Matthews stories for us. Warren Spahn?

Former Braves GM Frank Wren is a candidate for the open GM position with the Red Sox.

sounds like they want cheaper "fill in" pitchers rather than more expensive long term pitchers.

I'd like to see him get this position and see how well he'll do. I believe he'd help Boston continue to have success with the established players that are already on the team.

Re: Offseason thread
Crazy idea, maybe, maybe not. The Indians didn't make a qualifying offer on Mike Napoli. Now I know he's played mainly DH/1B the last few years but, what about a platoon with him and Flowers? Nap still has pop in his bat.
