Man. I love the home town. I am happy. I'm in the hospital under observation with some respiratory problems and I have to stay an extra night because my heart rate was so high during the game. I'm not even a cubs fan, I can't imagine the pressure. Whoa. Everybody enjoy and stay safe tonight!

I'm gonna quote what I said on another (non-baseball) board, with some edits, as they allow a lot more cursing, and I was and am still rather drunk:

That game, and that series, was just (really) awesome. Holy (schnikes). So many series before it were terrific as well.

I put up a facebook post congratulating my true Cubs fan friends when it was 6-3 with Chapman coming in. He blew it, the next hour and a half was nuts, you guys still pulled through. (other forum's diehard Cubs fan) and many of my friends and family are delirious. Hell yes. If I can get one self-righteous dig in, boy do I also have a few dozen other friends posting GO CUBS! messages, who haven't said a goddamn thing in my life regarding baseball. Screw you guys, it's the Ernie Banks jersey dudes who deserve to be delirious right now. Wrigleyville is a (crap)show of idiot 25 year olds, but there are a million devout Cubs fans crying tears of joy into each other's shoulders, and I respect the (hell) out of them. You guys deserve every minute of this celebration.

You'll beat us again next season, Cubs. Just too good. I'm all for it, let's have a (freaking) crazy NL Central for the next 5 years. Congratulations, Cubs. You dirty, dirty (rat)heads.

The year of the comebacks. After 108 years and you win it after losing 3-1 and against cleveland to make it even more ironic. :D Congrats, happy for Chicago, celebrate it well, amazing comeback!

Also, I hope I get to experience this with Wash. Capitals one day in my life..

Who was it on the Cubs board back in '07 or '08 who told me they had a bottle of champagne waiting for this?

Whoever it was... hope you got to open it with people you love.

Can't pretend like doubt didn't creep in, that sucker punch Indian fans are feeling right now is not something I wanted to experience tonight.

They need to change that logo btw.

I am a fan of Chicago first and foremost.

This is wonderful news. Now to get Year 9 through Year 16 of Chicagoland Presidency. That's the next big thing.

It's a GREAT place to be. Love my city. Love my peeps!
For love, not money.

Party like it's 1908! Woohooo! Nice one, the Goat died, the curse over.

These guys ignored all that noise and refused to follow the script of, the Cubs will find a way to lose.
Great character guys, and it all starts with Joe Madden, one of my favorite leaders in any and all sports.
He got criticized for moves and blasted for some, but, he did what nobody else managed to do in over a century, WIN IT.

I was telling my friends, I won't criticize him during the series, and trust him until it's all over.
Now, the guys who were blasting his moves are drunk and giddy.

But hell yeah, MADDEN is THE GUY!!!!

My two dogs, Ernie and Wrigley, slept through most of the game. Only raising their heads when I screamed as the Cubs won.

For someone who went through the lows of 2003, the rain delay was great for the Cubs, IMO. There was no rain delay after the Bartman incident where the Cubs could get their composure back. Yesterday night, the rain delay helped them very much.

It was also great to see 60-70 4-5 year olds chain of kids in my kid's school corridor chanting "Go Cubs Go" this morning.

And, it looks like it is the season of 1-3 comebacks. Time for teams to fall behind in the finals :D

uhmmm... this will be the highest rated baseball game of all time... and the Cubs got this.

No, probably not even close. It's not touching the game sevens from 1986, 1987, or 1991, for example. Those games all attracted 50 million + viewers. Today's game might get to 40 million. Baseball just isn't nearly popular enough anymore, and there are too many other entertainment options in 2016.

I think you'll be surprised when the numbers come in.

Estimated 38-42 million viewers. Huge number, but exactly as I said. They were never going to touch those games that got to 50M+. Even Game 7 and the Lovable Losers don't have that kind of drawing power.

Also, Maddon is so damn lucky the Cubs came back to win last night. He likely never would have lived down blowing Game 7 with the awful way he handled the bullpen. His legacy might very well have been ruined.

Baseball truly needs to find a way to speed the games up. People just don't have the attention spans anymore to sit through them.

Hard to get an accurate measure of true viewership with all the different types of media today. In the late 80's it was only TV.
