OW! Juszczyk gives 49ers’ Lynch lesson in NFL economics
http://www.sacbee.com/sports/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/article137935333.html
Twenty-one million dollars for a position that's fading from the football landscape? Lynch said he and Shanahan got over their sticker shock by noting that Juszczyk (pronounced: YOO-check) won't be used in a traditional manner.
"I forget who coined it, but we said, ‘Let’s not think of him as a fullback. He’s an OW,'" Lynch said. "So, if you see OW, that stands for offensive weapon. We saw an offensive weapon that (can be) used in a number of different capacities and I think that kind of is symbolic of our approach."
Juszczyk was listed as a tight end at Harvard and left the school in sixth place on its all-time receiving list and third in all-time touchdown catches. In reality, he did a little bit of everything in Harvard's wide-open offense. He lined up as a slot receiver on some downs, was an in-line blocker on others. When Harvard was in short-yardage or goal-line situations, Juszczyk was a lead blocker in the backfield.
That's kind of why I said we'll see if he approaches non-traditional TE level snaps.

Barring a breakdown in negotiations, #Browns are expected to sign veteran WR Kenny Britt later today, source told ESPN.
Once finalized with Browns, Britt's expected terms: 4 years, $32.5m, $17m gtd.
Yikes! They....can....have....him. We'll see what that structure looks like, though, if he proves to be an idiot for the millionth time.
Wonder if this means they know Pryor might depart or if they will double dip.
Browns signing receiver Kenny Britt, still hope to keep Terrelle Pryor

Lions signed WR Keshawn Martin. Was with the Niners for a couple weeks (3-4?) last year.

Jets fans buzzing about Sheldon Richardson-for-AJ McCarron rumor
http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-jets/post/_/id/67424/jets-fans-buzzing-about-sheldon-richardson-for-aj-mccarron-rumor
That's interesting. I have been one to be fairly vocal about kind of liking McCarron. Not that I think he's destined to become this great QB but he's one of my favorite developmental options that's already in the league.
I also haven't been shy about saying how Richardson drives me crazy and I think he's got a lot of immaturity issues that I don't know if he'll ever get over so I would be more than interested in seeing what I could get for him if I were in any real position and only knew what I know as a fan.

Via the Washington Post (Sally Jenkins) in an article on Dan Snyder's tenure:
Between 2008-13, 120 of 143 of the Redskins employees in non-football operations left the club for various reasons. - Stat courteous of Rick Maese
Obviously we don't have a long list of numbers to show other team's turnover rate among non-football positions but that's an incredible number. Fascinating.

Maybe it was just poor reading/self-scouting prior to that draft but I was NOT expecting the immaturity from Wright so far in his career. That one came completely out of left field. Really thought he had a chance to be pretty good. His career has taken an odd path IMO.

Re: Around the NFL Thread
Lance Kendricks should be an interesting add in GB as well IMO. Don't love him as a starter that you need to rely on day in and day out but with his physical ability it could be scary at times that they have him in their backup as a 2nd TE option IMO.
On a related note. I'm still fairly surprised they got so little out of D.J. Williams when they drafted him in '11 out of Arkansas. Thought he had a chance to explode for them.

Rich Cimini is reporting that Dont'a Hightower is looking to become the highest paid inside backer in the league. Yeah, good luck with that one.

Kuechly - $12.36M
Wagner - $10.75M
Bowman - $10.5M
Cushing - $8.75M
Marshall - $8M

With the signing of Foles, Chase Daniel has asked the Eagles to release him and the team is expected to do so Monday, a source told ESPN's Adam Caplan.

Dontari Poe - DL - Free Agent
Free agent NT Dontari Poe will visit the Falcons in the "next 24 hours."
GM Thomas Dimitroff had said the team was hopeful of getting Poe to town before he signed with the Jaguars or Colts. Poe's name has often exceeded his game, but he would still be a positive to most teams' defenses in the middle.

Re: Around the NFL Thread
He'll average 2 catches for like 27 yards/game but every 3rd catch will be one of those really annoying ones that shouldn't happen and comes at a really inopportune time. If they sign him...
