He's the type that John Lynch would want to get behind pretty quick IMO. Was a lot like Lynch coming into the NFL. High character kid, somewhat well spoken, good-nature about him, but a bit of a wilder personality on the field. Way more of a difference than many others once that switch was flipped. Better pure athlete than Lynch was IMO, however. Built for the 4-3.

Man, I'm really trying to get behind this switch. It's going to take some time.

He has experience at tackle and guard. He's absolutely massive. He was a huge project coming into the NFL. Most know I love size and length but I didn't have him getting drafted (he wasn't). Got into a bar fight in college which hurt him. Hasn't been able to stay particularly healthy and hasn't really graded out very well in any role he's been in either.

In some ways he compares to a Trent Brown - similar questions coming into the NFL with their past, where they project for different people, weight questions, etc. - but for me personally I always thought Trent Brown had a ton of upside. I wasn't particularly fond of Bell's coming in. Could wind up as a camp name and that's it.

According to Field Yates, Bell visited with the Packers today.

Their non games programming has gone downhill.

They replaced Sports Talk Live with Warriors Raw or something with a couple of guys talking about the Warriors. They are suppose to be fans or something I guess.

At least with the reporters and columnists on Sports Talk Live, they talk to the reporter who cover the team and also talk to the players, watch practices, etc. And of course they covered all the teams, not just the Warriors.

The Cowboys have free-agent offensive lineman Byron Bell in for a visit to The Star. Bell missed last season with the Tennessee Titans due to a dislocated ankle. He has tackle and guard experience and could be viewed as a contender at right tackle for the Cowboys with the impending retirement of Doug Free. Bell met with the Green Bay Packers earlier in the week.

He was undrafted and was tendered the original round level, so the 49ers would owe the Bucs zip if the Bucs chose not to match an offer sheet. 49ers could technically make it very difficult for them to hang on to him if they wanted to with the contract language, in other words.

The Cowboys have reached a deal with veteran offensive lineman Byron Bell on Friday, according to sources, giving them some flexibility in their search for Doug Free's replacement at right tackle. Bell has started 72 games in his career with most of them coming at right tackle. Free informed the Cowboys before free agency began that he intended to retire.
