We're Going Streaking: Jays (8-17) at Yankees (15-8), May 1st - 3rd

Post#1 » by Schad » Sun Apr 30, 2017 9:46 pm

Series preview: The unstoppable Blue Jays have won an unprecedented two consecutive games. Meanwhile, the pathetic garbage Yankees have slumped badly after a 14-3 stretch, and have now lost their last one game in a row.

Pitching matchups:

May 1st, 7pm ET
Marco Estrada vs. Luis Severino.

Score prediction: 18-1, Blue Jays.

May 2nd, 7pm ET
Mat Latos vs. Masahiro Tanaka.

Score prediction: 11-0, Blue Jays.

May 3rd, 7pm ET
Marcus Stroman vs. CC Sabathia.

Score prediction; Game called on account of sheer domination in the 2nd inning. Yankees forfeit.

Latos vs. Tanaka is a guaranteed L for the Jays. I like the Stroman vs. CC matchup for us. Game 1 will probably decide who wins or loses the series.

My prediction: Jays sweep.

2 out of 3 would be nice!

Btw, what is wrong with Travis? He's not hitting well at all, batting just .137 (10-for-73) One of the biggest disappointments of this season.

If our rotation ever got hot all at once and didn't allow anyone in the bullpen to pitch other then Biagini and Smith we'd never lose. Our offence can surely muster 3 runs like the 2008 Rays.

So i'm predicting a sweep after Latos goes legend in game 2.
That's what she said.

Momentum is clearly on our side. Anything but a Blue Jay sweep would be unexpected.

huge early may AL east showdown in the bronx

we've been spoiled lately but it's time to get greedy and gun for a third straight W tonight. yes i'm getting ahead of myself but the blistering 108-win pace the team has played at since april 29 suggests that anything is possible with this roster full of stallions

Not sure but steamer projections on fangraphs had him being worse this year than last, meanwhile players like Martin and Bautista were projected to be better than last year as far as fwar goes.

Travis decided not to have surgery in the offseason, he could be lacking power in his bottom half and also noticed that he had an opposite field percentage of roughly %32 last season which is down to %22 so far this year. Meanwhile his pull percentage and up the middle hit baseball percentage has gone up while his k rate and bb rate are about the same as last year, if not slightly better.

Am just not sure why he was projected to be worse given his age while the grandfathers were projected to be better.

I found myself with the afternoon off and I'm watching the playoff highlights from the past two years and the Texas brawl. Now I'm just sad that this team has sucked so far. I think the funniest thing about the Odor punch was the pathetic little glove slap he followed up with, lol.

I braced myself for a really bad season and it's been as expected so far. And now, the inevitable rebuild begins. My guess is Marco goes first.

Two days ago I didn't have faith in this team. Something has changed in the makeup of the team. They are more focused. I think they are giving 110% now!

Ryan Goins is now our HR leader on May 1st. Or at least he ought to be.

Jose showing zero signs of coming out of his slump. It has been a month now. When are they going to yank him out of the 3 spot?

.840 OPS over last 7 days and they had him hit 2nd yesterday. Think it might be awhile until hes moved down. Give him until 150-200 at bats to heat up a bit.

Nice hit by Travis.

Goins with 4 RBIs tonight. Just as I predicted.
