Good outing from Stroman
Crazy that Cleveland is letting Bauer throw 125+ pitches in a game in early May.

Just throwing it out there but can we stop making Barnes the token demotion every time a nonsense player gets called up?

i get the whole TV dive thing and think pillar is guilty, not often, but here and there. but pretty sure a lunging stab was the only way he'd get that. pretty damn hard to run through a line-drive over your head.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Yeah, he has had the misfortune of being the path of least resistance, given his option status. But (I say, just as he gives up a walk and a double) his stuff definitely seems to play at this level.
**** your asterisk.

Why even look home there, you just need outs at this point.

How useless this team is. How the hell do you concede a run at home AND screw that up.

This might be the funniest blown lead yet if it happens.

Looked like Travis (and Lindor, for that matter) were expecting Lindor to give himself up at 2nd there, but Goins took a look home, leading Lindor to turn around.
Exactly no one did their jobs well there beyond Smoak redirecting the throw quickly.

Ok time to move Bautista down the lineup. He sucks! He's just not the same anymore.

I think it was a great catch, and that you are being remarkably uncharitable.

He has always been a good one inning pitcher - he was, after all, the closer pretty much throughout his minor league career. But a second inning of work for him is always riskier than the first.

This. An over-the-shoulder diving catch is orders of magnitude more difficult than one coming in, and I don't see how he gets to that without leaving his feet.
Statcast had the exit velocity at 101 mph at a fairly low launch angle, and it traveled 388 feet in 4.6 seconds. Haven't seen the data posted anywhere, but I'd bet that's well under a 10% make probability.

That was about as far as away from a tv dive as you can get. How you can watch that replay and come to the conclusion that he could've just gone ahead and caught it in stride is beyond me.

You and Schad are right. It was a great catch. A bit of advice to posters like Yosemite Dan. Don't be so jaded about this season. It's going to be long, the Yankees and Orioles have a pretty good bead on two playoff spots, and with two other division winners, the Jays are really big long shots to get the last playoff spot - even if they catch fire when the walking wounded return. But appreciate what the role players are doing to make the team watchable, and even win a few more games than the current available talent level deserves. This isn't going to be a 60-win season, so awful it will sear itself into our memories. I am going to savour the contributions of Pillar, Goins, Barney, Biagini, Smoak, etc, keeping the Jays afloat. I am going to root for artistic and selfish reasons - the latter being any improvement they can demonstrate might get a slightly better prospect in return in a trade (well, I'm not trading Biagini). While we watch the draft and player development, the future Jays are still a couple of years in most cases from the majors. So let's not get so curmudgeony that we lose sight of the effort put in by all who are called on to tide us over until the exciting young stars of the future start to arrive.
