Great, we can have guys like Jared Dudley, Jeff Green, and Spencer Hawes get some run in before joining our team! ;)

But seriously, I think every team should have it's own D-League to develop prospects.

About time
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

That's what the NBA is hoping to do, I know they were talking about increasing the salaries in the D-league too, don't know if anything has been finalized in regards to that. It's so funny that the salaries are so low. $250K a year on 15 D-League players would only cost $3.75 million, that's less than what the new mini-MLE will be. Then consider that teams will have their draft picks on the team too, so they aren't even paying 15 players.

If the NBA is serious about using the league to develop players, then that's the kind of contracts they should be giving, with 50 games it is $5000/game.

Yeah, and let's not forget that if you run the G-League (lol I still can't get used to the G) properly, it will also bring back revenue, it doesn't have to be just a sunk cost.

But for that, the NBA has to take it seriously and up the salaries significantly as you say, which as much as they talk about it, they still don't seem to.

Gotta fire Doc first. With the way he operates, our D-League team's roster would be filled with any member of the Rivers family who's ever given a moment's thought to playing basketball.

G-League just sounds, well, "G", it's just funny to say.

They can certainly get revenue out of it, especially if they are in places that don't have a team. If they pay more they will get better talent, and they can do better marketing, etc, it's not like they don't know how.

Its on the way, as ive been posting for years now.

Portion of the new TV deal was earmarked for the G-League. New commissioner for the G-League. Signed a TV deal with ESPN to televise games. Gatorade rebranding to get into their science lab and increase revenue streams via marketing. Two-way contracts starting next season ($50,000 - $75,000 salaries and prorated minimum salaries if called up to the NBA franchise).

Its all coming, trust me.

Sources: Clippers to make Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario D-League team

The LA Clippers are working toward introducing their new NBA Develo‎pment League franchise as the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers are closing in on an announcement that would establish Agua Caliente Casino Resort -- one of the club's most prominent sponsors at the NBA level -- as the title sponsor of the club's looming D-League affiliate in a unique naming arrangement.

Ontario, California, is roughly 50 miles away from Los Angeles, which would enable the Clippers to assign and recall players whose D-League rights they hold on an expedited basis.

The Clippers' new affiliate, sources said, is scheduled to join the D-League next season and take the developmental circuit to 26 teams overall, advancing its larger quest to establish one affiliate for all 30 NBA teams as soon as possible.

I'm not crazy about the team name, but at least we have a d league team. My guess is that having a sponsor in the name helps bring some of the costs and expenses down for the team. We'll see how the team does and what we'll do with it.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I wish we would have uniforms with "Chico's Bail Bonds" on the back.

I dont follow the DLeague much but is it still where any team can promote your player to their team and basically steal them?

If they are just playing at your G-League team without an two-way NBA contract, yes. If you have sent a player to G-League with a two-way NBA contract, no

Nice, that's just 4 teams in the NBA that don't have a G-League affiliate now. I hope we don't have to wait 6 years and the next CBA for the G-League to start being treated as a proper minor league system. Every contract should be a two way contract, and every player of your G-League affiliate should be only yours, in a way no other NBA team can poach him away. The G-League draft should be an important event too, where NBA teams put work into scouting the best talents that might be playing on their NBA team some day. Kids should have a tough decision between going to college or the G-League when they're out of high school, and players in Europe or South America should have to think seriously between continuing on their FIBA team or trying the G-League, for a shot at the NBA.

And, most important, the G-League should be treated by players as real basketball, not as pick up games where you try to pad your stats to the maximum so it catches the eye of an NBA team, like it is now.

Sadly, it'll take a lot of time if that ever happens, but at least it's (very slowly) headed in that direction.

I wonder if they'll add a 3rd round to the NBA draft once every NBA team has a G-League affiliate with the players drafted in the 3rd round going directly to the G-League team

Am I the only one who thought that G League was just a typo?
