Ok thats not going to happen lol.

Don't be so sure. Remember that Pat tried to sweet talk LaMaracus Aldridge.

I have faith in Pat as much as any, but even i cant see him getting this done. But i sure hope he tries.

Riley should ask McRoberts to opt out to his contract to add more cap space.
Is that possible? yes
Riley should offer McRoberts a two year deal by using the room exception. By that, McRoberts will not lose his money and the Heat gains additional cap space.

Resign the boys and run it back next season. We got good players here. We will figure it out.

Great ... an extra year of not being able to trade him for a pack of cigarettes.

I believe Miami will not mind the extra year if the pay is almost the same (2 yrs @ $7.5m maybe) and especially IF they can use the cap space to signed a free agent that can make a difference.

I don't agree with that. But more importantly it doesn't make any sense for McRoberts. Even at the NBA minimum next season he stands to earn:

$6,021,175 ... this season
+$2,300,000 ... next season NBA minimum for a 10+ year veteran
----------------
$8,321,175 ... over the next 2 years

So unless he feels that he can't even land a vet minimum deal next season, we'd have to offer him at least ~ $4,000,000 million this season + $4,320,000 next season ... and fully guarantee it. I'm not sure it's worth the trouble just to open up $2 million in cap room. May as well waive and stretch him and open up $4 million.

$2M?????
Opting out for $6m of his salary next season and Miami will only be given $2million in cap room!?!?!
How did that happen?? I dont understand what you're saying about this $2m. Impossible!!!

Isn't it an additional $5.2m of cap space if McBob opts out??

I see where I got lost. You want to re-sign him exception money.

Under that scenario we would gain $6,021,175 in cap space this offseason.

Thank you!
Actually its somewhere around $5.2m coz you need to pay the minimum salary for the vacant roster spot.

But McBob according to Sun-sentinel, he opts in. :banghead:

What is the max Hayward can get from another team thats not Utah?

4 years ... ~ $130 million according to Albert Nahmad aka @AlbertRandom1. First year salary of ~ $30,300,000.

Read on Twitter

That's comparing 4 years to 5. Hayward can earn money in Utah due to Jazz' bird rights what allows them a higher annual raise, but the difference isn't that big. Also, I'm quite sure Hayward will sign a 3+1 contract, that gives him the option to opt-out after three year and sign a new contract when he's 10 years in the league. Will allow him to sign a 35% contract instead of 30%.

I don't see the reason why Hayward would prefer the Heat to playing for the Celtics or Jazz, but money isn't going to be the main reason.

He's comparing 4 years (leaving) to 5 years (staying) because it's the maximum amount he can secure in guaranteed money. It's true that Hayward to potentially make more by signing a 3+1 deal, but he could also make less if he gets hurt and his play declines. That's the gamble. But yeah, the risk reward tilts heavily towards the up side.

Really want Riles to go all-in on Paul George. Hayward, Griffin, etc don't really move the needle for me tbh. In fact I'd actually lose it if we maxed out Blake -- finally get one injured max PF off our books just to sign another one? No thanks fam

My priority this off season is to get into the best basketball shape of my life, I look forward to trying out for the YMCA D-league team in the fall.

I'm all for it if the Pacers panic, but I don't think that gets it done. And bringing in both PG and Hayward would marginalize Dragic again.

you're really going to put Hayward at 4? More like he plays the two.

If Pat could pull off tradeing our pick, some future pick, & Winslow, TJ, & Bob for PG, then i would leave Hayward out. Instead resign JJ, & Dion & roll with a lineup like this.

Dragic
Dion
PG
JJ
Whiteside

With JRich, McGruger, White, Babbit, & anyone Pat could sign that would want to join that starting 5.

My top priority this offseason would be to get a good backup Center that can help keep the team stable when Whiteside goes down or is in foul trouble. This is assuming Reed is gone, which is likely.

If we can minimize the defensive drop off between Whiteside and his backup Center, the team will remain more consistent and comfortable. I understand we won't find a good offensive Center, but we can grab a decent defensive one.

I haven't studied the players all that much, but we could grab Ekpe Udoh. He was a former first round pick in 2010, who went to Euroleague and has played well over there. I think we can grab him to be our backup C for the right price. He's hungry to be back in the NBA and prove himself.
