Favorite Non-Favorite Team Superbowl

Post#1 » by BorkLazer » Sun Jun 11, 2017 10:14 pm

Simple question, what's your favorite Superbowl that wasn't won by the team you are a fan of? Personally, mine would have to be the Saints' win over the Colts. I HATED the Colts as a Pats fan, and New Orleans had the story of a rebuilding city behind it. Tracy Porter picking off Manning to seal the game is my favorite non-Patriots play ever.

I might have to go back to the 1983 season when the Redskins were just destroying everything in their path until they faced the Raiders in the Super Bowl. I was a cocky, contrarian kid back then and thought I could get some betting action on that game by picking the Raiders. I bet three different classmates at the rate of a dollar a point on the margin of victory that the Raiders would win. I'm still friends with the one dude who never paid up. Lol.
In more recent years, once my Ravens' seasons are finished, I've hopped on the Patriots bandwagon, mostly out of an appreciation for excellence and their ability to stop the Steelers dead in their tracks.

BJJ, you might have to explain what you like about a Redskins and Giants Super Bowl win. Doesn't that put your Cowboy Fan Card in jeopardy?

Couldn't resist rubbing it in to the New England poster, lol. To be honest I truly enjoyed watching Joe Montana and the 49ers in the 80's.

There's so many that are close.

The 2 Giants/Pats Superbowls are up there, same with Pittsburgh/Arizona in 2008.

Wasn't the best game but the first Elway SB win was pretty cool too.

For me it's probably XXXVIII... that was a wild ass game with so many twists, shots and counter shots. Crazy 2nd quarter... Crazy 4th Quarter... Jake Delhomme & Steve Smith... Vrabel... Janet Jackson...

What's not to love!

I was pretty happy that the Ravens beat the Niners as I found those Niner teams to be generally unlikable on the whole. Probably more because of Jim Harbaugh but it is what it is

Pretty indifferent to most other ones

That was a great one, and I remember feeling so disappointed that they came up short because I really enjoyed seeing Warner lead them to a Super Bowl and almost to another championship for himself with a different team.

That reminds me of Rams/Titans in XXXIV, but I am probably remembering it mostly due to "The Tackle" and just how fun the Greatest Show on Turf was to watch during those years.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Probably the Ravens over the Niners. It's hard not to say the Giants over the Pats either time, but the Ravens game was more entertaining, and I like the Ravens better than the Giants.

Man, so many to choose from. This years game was so memorable & still fresh. First OT game. The Niners losing in the fashion they did was nice from my perspective lol. The Arizona/Pittsburgh game was also a memorable one.

Loved watching Russell Wilson throw that INT...probably the hardest I cheered for a super bowl that didn't involve my team.

Like Favre when I was a kid, so those super bowls were fun. Also really enjoyed Peyton getting his first, and then his last as well.

Okay okay, bmurph, please apologize to Jack. He's a sensitive guy and you don't want to see what happens when he gets angry. For the sake of the board, it may be best if we avoid that.

I have never been so miserable for a half of football in my life. The second the lights went off, I almost got nauseous. We had our feet on their throats and the game was snowballing on them. That was the most bizarre turn of events in Super Bowl history it almost cost us the game and possibly cost us one of the game's most lopsided blowouts.
I almost literally jumped through the TV screen to lay out James Harrison myself. My hatred for the Steelers is stronger than any steroid that man has ever injected. I could have taken him.
