Not a TPE, just 7 million in unguaranteed players (Onuaku, Taylor, Long, Kelly, Quarterman), which can be sent out to bring back 11 million in salary then cut. So a pseudo TPE

For people questioning the fit, one of the main roles of the guard positions is to generate good shots through their ballhandling and passing skills. They are the positions who move the ball around effectively. So if you have two marquee guards, you should be able to generate a lot of high quality, high percentage shots, both for their teammates and themselves. If they are not capable of doing that then perhaps these two guards are not as good as we have been led to believe since they are not doing their role properly.

I just don't see it working. You can't have your best players being your worst defenders. If only one was a horrible defender and everyone else was great on defense it could work but not when all your starters are bad on defense.

All 3 of those guys are good on defense. Curry is not exactly a good defender, he gets sheltered by the other great defenders, just like Harden would be.

There are many examples of all stars who played together and did not work well. You mentioned Harden , Westbrook and Durant. No that chemistry did not work. If it had worked Harden would still be in OKC. And OKC would have a dynasty. Wade with Lebron had better chemistry than Irving and Lebron.

Other recent examples:
Butler-Rondo
Carmelo-D. Rose-
Carmelo-Studemire
Carmelo-Iverson (Nuggets)
Kevin Love With Lebron
Le Marcus Aldridge with Leonard( Do you think they fit with eachtoher?)
Let me remind you that all these trades/transactions were made with the highest ambitions of their teams who purchased them.

What?

Harden, KD, and Russ did work on the basketball court (They went to the finals for goodness sake!). They broke up due to financial reasons, not basketball reasons and as for the other examples.

1. Butler-Rondo: Rondo is washed and isn't a star in 2017.
2. Carmelo-Rose: Same thing, 2017 Rose isn't 2011 Rose. If this was 2011 Rose paired with Melo, it would have worked out better.
3. Carmelo-Stoudemire: Again, Amare's knees gave out in their full year run.
4. Carmelo-Iverson: This actually did work, Nuggets won 50 games for the first time.
5. Kevin Love-Lebron: They just won a championship the year before.
6. Aldridge and Leonard: They are coming off back to back 60 wins seasons.

The OP is right, the one-ball argument is exaggerated. Talent usually wins out over fit.

Seems like Carmelo fails no matter what great player he's teamed up with.

The spurs aren't good. Rockets almost beat them last year, now they added Chris Paul.

"Almost beat them" - got clobbered at home by a team missing a top 3 MVP candidate.

Uwotm8?

Cp3 will fit right in with the choking culture

The rockets would have beat the Spurs in 6 if they hadn't got demoralized in game 5. CP3 there means that the rockets blow out the Spurs and don't even need OT in game 5

Pretty much everyone that locked in Jordan only 2 years ago coz of 'loyalty' is leaving. So good.

It's times like this I rediscover my love for the NBA.

I understand it 100%. They don't have an actual TPE. In order to get one you have to send more than you receive in a trade. They obviously didn't do that. The reason they bought those other unguaranteed deals was to use them as matching salary for a trade, much like a TPE.

Exactly. Now Deandre gets to suck in LA all by himself. Karma is a bitch.

Yeah, Deandre is an all-NBA player, an allstar and a olympian gold medalist. I don't think he's too disappointed with how his career shaped up after that day.

Chuck City!!! I actually think the Clips would be fun to watch. If they retain Griffin, they will really push the ball.

It would have been extremely poor form but the clippers could have screwed cp3 royally by accepting cp3's op in and then refusing to trade him :)
