What Are the Odds the Lakers Make the Playoffs?

Post#1 » by Tiesto_Lakers » Thu Jul 13, 2017 9:01 pm

I say 40/60.

Lonzo will be rookie of the year and the rest of our lineup is much better than last year. We got stronger at every position and got rid of the players who set bad examples and couldn't lead a team (Russell and Young).

G - Ball/Clarkson
G - Pope/Brewer
F - Ingram/Deng/Kuzma
F - Randle/Nance
C - Lopez/Zubac

Pretty good bench with guys who are due for a breakout year (Randle, Clarkson, Nance). At this point the top 6 teams in the West are GSW, SAS, HOU, MIN, OKC, and a tossup between NOP and DEN. The rest of the West is up for taking. I don't see how the Mavs, Suns, Blazers, Kings, or Clippers are better than the Lakers.

If they get Rondo, high.

Clippers, Blazers, and arguably the Jazz are all better. Lakers are not making the post-season this year. Good team - but the West is stacked.

Maybe 15% if they overachieve. I think the Lakers are in a similar position to the Kings. Neither team has enough winning experience or stars to take them over the hump. In a few years maybe. It's not that easy.

Come on man.. I'd call it a success if they match last season's win total. The net rating of that starting line up if you use last season as an indicator is absolutely brutal.

You don't see how the Blazers and Clippers are better than the Lakers? What?

Not playoffs yet, West is too stacked, but they're headed in the right direction. Their pick probably won't be as valuable as Boston was expecting. 32-35 wins and development of the young players should be the goal.

Not high. As a laker fan the team is built for down the road, but do you honestly think we're better than the warriors, thunder, rockets, spurs, nuggets, wolves, blazers, pelicans, grizzlies, clippers, and maybe even jazz? Best case I see there is a 12th or 11th seed. Problem is and has been for the past 5 seasons defense, and I think we improved but its up to the players now. We'll see I guess but Im hyped for this team cant wait.

They legit don't have a chance in hell. I'd be floored if they did.

They aren't even better than last year's team at the moment.

Hard to say , the West will be very interesting this season . All depends if NOLA team comes together , if Ingram improves which I think he will. Lakers may be around 8 all the way to 11? I would be impressed if LA made playoffs.

MJ is the GOAT, but LeBron can be if he does 2 of the following:
[X] Win another FMVP
[ ] Win another MVP
[X] 40K/10K/10K career

Lou, Russell and Young are missed (they all were very similar) but Ball, Lopez, Pope... and a year of experience for Ingram, Randle, Zubac, Clarkson and Nance Jr.

I think we win 7 more games than last season.

Still not in the play-offs IN THE WEST.

0% chance, and that may be optimistic.

They will be better than last year, though. Hopefully good enough that Boston doesn't get their pick.

10% chance at best. That's still a bad team. Lonzo will be lucky to be as good as Russell was last year in his rookie year.

The West is very deep and while the Lakers have promising players, you shouldn't expect too much from them too soon.

If the Lakers won 7 more games than they did last year that would be a really good sign.

I'm not that high on Ball though and believe that Russell > Ball which is why i'm not that optimistic about LAL. Other than Lopez, the entire team has question marks so it's kind of hard to project that they'll be significantly better than they were last season, if at all.

I'm not trying to be funny or slanderous when I say we legit don't know if Randle, Ingram, Ball, are even good NBA players yet, let alone can affect wins.

I don't like the frontcourt at all. Ingram hasn't shown any defensive liability and randle/Lopez have shown nothing but defensive inability on their careers.

Also you are relaying on very young players in Ball and Ingram. Not to say they aren't talented, but I don't see them carrying crap around them to the playoffs.

I would say 10-20 percent.
