Melo wanted the sign and trade. He wasn't going into the new cba without it. He said he'd go to BK if we didn't want him. He leveraged that Denver would end up with nothing for him and thereby forced the trade. Using BK to this end forced us to up loose more assets then we had to. In fact if he really cared about winning in NY he would have signed as a free agent period. Had he not taken the extra year from Denver on his extension he could have avoided the whole mess.

Don't even try that ish lol

A player can't force a trade

A player can refuse a trade

Melo would of forced the trade to HOU already if he could. He can't, so it didn't happen.

It's up to the FO to decide what they do. Blame them

a player can say they are not willing to extend with the team they are being traded to.

FO gets their fair share of blame as well

Yeah but that's still on the FO to deal them. Like it was for IND with PG & MIN with KLove.

We gave up a good package. I don't think anyone was complaining when Gallo and WC were missing 400 games combined since the trade. Also, I believe we'd have to renounce WC to even sign Melo to the max.

That's not the argument. To summarize, the argument was a about the level of impact Billups had. Some seem to forget that Billups was an equal to Melo back then. Both made 3rd team all NBA the year of the western conference finals run. Billups was also coming off of massive success in a lead role in Detroit. Some here seem to think Melo had "help" but that he essentially carried the team... which isn't true. Billups had just as much, if not more, impact.

Billups was not an equal to Melo back then.

Both were 3rd team All-NBA, Billup was higher in MVP rankings, they reached unparalleled success once Billups arrived, the coach credits Billups and the fans credit Billups... what more has to be said.

And that was the last time Billups made an All NBA team. The very next year Melo made 2nd team. How convenient of you to leave that out.

MVP rankings? From the media?

A fan base that dislikes Melo for leaving?

Cmon man

I agree. Like I said the FO gets their fair share of the blame. We still could have moved Gallo and WC after to acquire help for Melo if needed.. Maybe they don't sustain the same injuries in different circumstances. Who can say.

Mills, answers firmly with one word:

"No."

At least he answered that right. Straight. Clean. To the point. No emotions. No personal preferences. No dislikes and animosity shown (regardless of what he really feels about Anthony).

Wait wait wait... Billups was older.. we could discuss the seasons prior to that in which Chauncey won championships and finals mvp.. even during the run, Karl and the fans were crediting Chauncey. The guy was really good on both ends, one of the best IQs, great leader and a lethal shot. He just knew how to play. Melo was sexier but Chauncey was better.

So, it sure sounds like nothing is happening quick.

But if Anthony is coming back, he has to play PF - and we're going to need a SF and PG.

BKlutch wrote:IF he comes back, this may just be the best lineup. Do you think the surgery helped Noah enough that he could contribute off the bench? I haven't heard anything about him all summer (and I know he's keeping a low profile so people don't get angry at him).

No one knows about Noah at this point. I would like to think he can still contribute on the defensive end and on the glass but who knows. At this point I would assume that he is the 3rd big off the bench behind Willy and KOQ if they were to go with this lineup.

He will contribute and as soon as he's back from his suspension he'll be our starter, unless Willy is showing big improvement from last season on the defensive end.

I can't see Noah starting going forward. Mills, Perry and Hornacek today have been very adamant about focusing on the youth developing and a lot of that is playing time. They might have to deal with Melo for another year but not both. He will get spot minutes here and there imo.

That's my guess too.

Side note, I do hope your guys new Pres/GM combo of Mills and Perry end up being solid and Dolan stays out of the way (as unlikely as that bit is). While it was entertaining as hell watching the unprofessionalism of Phil Jackson trying to force an antiquated style of play and hanging players out to dry in the media as an outsider, I can't imagine the frustration Knicks fans must have been feeling.

Then Lebron you need to get work harder to get a deal lined up to get Anthony to Cleveland.
