Mike Glennon - QB - Bears

The Chicago Tribune's Rich Campbell writes the Bears plan for Mike Glennon to start all season.

Campbell adds there is no quarterback competition and "Glennon's grip on the job" is strong. That said, the Bears are not going to hold down second-overall pick Mitchell Trubisky if the rookie looks ready, and this would not be the first time a team intends to start a veteran all year only to bench him for a young quarterback midway through the season. Despite Chicago's intentions, the safe money is still on Trubisky seeing the field this year.

ESPN's James Walker wrote Dolphins first-round DE Charles Harris "flashed early and often" during the offseason program.

Going by offseason reports, the Dolphins have a chance to be the most dominant team in the history of the NFL. Still, the preponderance of fluff does not necessarily mean the praise of Harris is unwarranted. If he is able to keep it up when the pads come on, Harris could be a big boost for a defense which recorded just 33 sacks in 2016.

Mike Williams - WR - Chargers

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Chargers first-round WR Mike Williams may need season-ending back surgery on a herniated disk.

Williams recently received a second epidural in an effort to try and get him ready for some point during training camp, but the team is preparing as if he won't be ready. There's a chance it won't even help at all, and Williams would then have to get surgery. The No. 7 overall pick in April, Williams has been hurt seemingly ever since being picked. He missed the entire spring and has fallen way behind. Even if he somehow manages to recover at some point, he's highly unlikely to make a year-one impact. The good news for the Chargers is they're well-stocked at receiver with Keenan Allen coming back from a torn ACL, Tyrell Williams coming off a breakout 2016, Dontrelle Inman proving capable as a No. 3, and Travis Benjamin as a deep threat. Williams allegedly may have "masked" the injury in the pre-draft process.

Mike Williams - WR - Chargers

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports first round WR Mike Williams (back) is not expected to need surgery.

The Chargers were considering surgery 3-4 weeks ago, but multiple sources tell RapSheet it's "not on the table" anymore. Williams has reportedly been improving since going down in late May. He's expected to open training camp on the active/PUP list.

Zay Jones - WR - Bills

According to the Bills' official website, second-round WR Zay Jones "looked the part of a top three wideout" in the offseason program.

Per in-house reporter Jake Hamilton, Jones' "air of confidence impressed the coaching staff." Looking like a top-three is great, but the Bills need Jones to be a top-two behind brittle Sammy Watkins. Jones is this year's Sterling Shepard from a projected usage perspective.

I guess they were so focused on his neck and forgot the rest of his spine. His combine numbers being what they were should have made teams suspicious. Hard to think a medical staff would miss that.

Sidney Jones - DB - Eagles

Eagles placed second-round CB Sidney Jones (Achilles') on the active/non-football injury list.

DT Beau Allen (pectoral) was also placed on the active/NFI list. Neither move was a surprise, and both players could open the season on reserve/NFI, which would cost them at least six games. Even so, there is optimism Jones will return at some point this season.

Reuben Foster - LB - 49ers

49ers first-round LB Reuben Foster (shoulder) will be full go for the start of training camp on Friday.

Recovering from shoulder surgery, Foster was limited to individual drills in the spring. The team is expected to let him loose in offense-against-defense work starting this weekend. There's been plenty of hoopla about Foster's shoulder potentially being a short- and long-term concern, but to this point he hasn't had any issues since surgery. The 49ers have expressed zero concern as well.

Jourdan Lewis - DB - Cowboys

Cowboys third-round CB Jourdan Lewis has been found not guilty in his domestic violence case.

Lewis had insisted he was "completely innocent." The Cowboys knew of the incident when they made Lewis the No. 92 overall pick of the draft. Standing in at 5-foot-10, 195 pounds, Lewis is a slot prospect.

Donnel Pumphrey - RB - Eagles

Eagles fourth-round RB Donnel Pumphrey has "looked sharp" in the early days of camp.

Reporter Jeff McLane cautions it's been in pad-less, 7-on-7 drills, but says Pumphrey has "yet to drop a pass," and is "almost always turning upfield." The report comes one day after CSN Philly pumped up Wendell Smallwood. With LeGarrette Blount, Darren Sproles, Smallwood and Pumphrey all vying for touches, Philly's backfield is a tough one to project.

Malik Hooker - DB - Colts

Colts first-round S Malik Hooker tweaked his hamstring during the conditioning test and will start training camp on the PUP list.

After undergoing both shoulder and sports hernia surgery, Hooker missed the entire offseason program. Projected as the starter for Indy's previously porous secondary, Hooker needs some reps before the season.

DeShone Kizer - QB - Browns

Browns coach Hue Jackson said second-round QB DeShone Kizer is progressing faster than expected.

"He's understanding the offense," Jackson said. Reporter Mary Kay Cabot believes that if Kizer "continues at this clip," he will "soon be taking most of the first-team reps." Cabot still considers Cody Kessler a slight favorite for No. 1 duties. The Browns seem open to Kizer winning the starting job if he shows them the things they need to see this summer.

Christian McCaffrey - RB - Panthers

ESPN's David Newton reports the Panthers are peppering Christian McCaffrey with "short passes and screens" in practice.

After observing on Thursday, Newton reports it's "obvious" the Panthers have "big plans" for their first-round pick. Per Newton, McCaffrey is "so fast on his cuts that it leaves (defenders) grasping for air." McCaffrey is an exceptional runner, but it's become clear the Panthers view the passing game as the best way for him to make a rookie impact. It will be a big change for an offense that hasn't been big on screens or running back targets under Cam Newton.

James Conner - RB - Steelers

Steelers third-round RB James Conner has an AC joint sprain in his shoulder.

Coach Mike Tomlin said it would be a matter of "days" before Conner gets back in practice. With franchise player Le'Veon Bell unsigned, Conner was sharing first-team reps with Fitzgerald Toussaint in the early days of training camp.

Forrest Lamp - G - Chargers

Chargers second round RG Forrest Lamp is out for the season with a torn ACL.

It's a huge loss that downgrades what looked like an improved interior line. With Spencer Pulley stepping forward as the Bolts' starting center, the Chargers figure to turn to Matt Slauson and third-round pick Dan Feeney at the guard positions. The Chargers have had terrible luck with their draft picks, as first round WR Mike Williams' season also in jeopardy. Lamp will miss his entire rookie year, but should return near full strength in 2018.

Jabrill Peppers - DB - Browns

ESPN Cleveland reports first round S Jabrill Peppers' role is a "work in progress."

Peppers has been repping with the second and third team defenses through the first week of training camp. It's not a great sign he hasn't passed Ibraheim Campbell, but the Browns are still counting on him to become the starter. Calvin Pryor is also in the mix at strong safety opposite Derrick Kindred.

Jamaal Williams - RB - Packers

ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky calls fourth-round pick Jamaal Williams the "most likely" running back to push Ty Montgomery for snaps.

Packers OC Edgar Bennett -- a former running back himself -- specifically talked up Williams' pass-protection skills, a strength of Williams' at BYU as well. It also happens to be Montgomery's biggest weakness. Bennett said Williams has "earned work with the first team because of his ability to pass protect." Williams appears to be clearly ahead of fifth-rounder Aaron Jones.

Joe Williams - RB - 49ers

CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco says rookie Joe Williams has gotten off to a "slow start" at 49ers camp.

It's allowed Carlos Hyde to reemerge as the favorite to start, and Tim Hightower to grab a hold of No. 2 running back duties. Early practice reviews on Williams have been mixed to poor. Maiocco writes Williams "is still gaining familiarity with the system," and "must do a better job of securing the football." Practice reports indicate Williams has been fumbling early in camp.
