There is nothing wrong with what Millsap said, we've all said here. We have been one of the, if not the worst defensive team in league so far this yr and some ppl here seem to be upset or insulted by him saying that lol. I wish players and coaches were more blunt like that instead of trying to give the answer that the PR team would like for them to give.

I think Kyle O Quinn is showing the value we expected to receive when we signed him last summer. He can be very productive in his limited minutes. 15-18 minutes is solid for him because he can rebound and score inside, solid defense etc. Also a pretty solid passer too. What he needs is consistent playing time.
Make the Knicks great again!

I mean, that's probably what every team is thinking when they go against us. Credit to the Knicks for playing solid defense today tho...I'd say this was their best defensive effort of the season. We'll see if they build on it and don't let Portland drop 115+ at MSG in our next game.

Don't know what game you were watching.

Today is not the day for that kind of criticism, imo. Melo played within the offense, took smart shots, was a willing distributor and had a good balance of scoring and passing.

Melo does not have to be Lebron James to be a smart player. He is still the best scorer out there and when takes his shots in the rhythm and flow of the offense he does not have to sacrifice who he is as a player to help the team.

This was good Melo, he managed to score at a good percentage and still had 3 assists and made plays for others.

What's up with the extremes with people? I say Carmelo needs to do a better job of feeding the post and kicking out on triple teams and people take that as asking him to be Lebron James. Oh wow

I'm talking about things that will help the Knicks make progress going forward, obviously they are not in mid season form but these are things I'm looking for to improve as the season goes on. This team is a solid offensive team, Melo seems to always have these trust issues with teammates and today there were plenty examples of it.

Melo is what he is. hes not changing anything now.

Not asking him to change, just trust his teammates more. That will have to come eventually, he's not 28 years old anymore and even his ball handling has been looking shaky this year. He's slowing down and can no longer carry the teams offense like he used to, the sooner he realizes that the better.

I was debating this.

A lot of the board thinks KP is best as a 5.

Willie isn't some combo PF/C. He's about a pure a C as they go. I don't see him as a guy who would have even dealt well with PF's from 10+ years ago, no less the basically SF's who play PF today, by and large. Then again, both he and KP are good passers and unselfish and space well. This is post Melo.

Not sure Willie/KP/Melo works THAT much better than Noah/KP/Melo, in terms of defense. Obviously the offense is better.

Just don't play them all at the same time, and bring Willy off the bench as a supersub

Melo will spend most of his minutes at PF and a little at SF
KP will split his minutes at PF and C
Willy will come off the bench and just play C

KP and Willy on offense will compensate for any defensive liabilities that it may cause. And I honestly do think KP Willy can work on defense. If we were able to make KP and Lopez work last year we can make Willy and KP work down the road

Yeah, basically this.

I was thinking more post Melo - can the Knicks have success in an uptempo league with Willie at the 5 and KP at the 4? I think so, if the other pieces are right. Plus, the league may change in 4 years and go big again.

Simply because it takes longer for the players to gel as a team. It has only been 13 games, and we're showing improvement. I suspect this team can do even better than today. We have the pieces we needed that we didn't have last year. We have buy-in from the players and coaches. And they seem to be having fun. Today's game was fun to watch, even though that doesn't mean we can't improve a lot more It's just that winning the way we did today - playing good team ball on offense and on D - is fun. I'm enjoying this a lot and, judging by the comments, a lot of you are, too. This is why we don't want to tank -- we'd have to give this all up.

Gonna roll with this team for awhile now, need to make some big picture decisions in the offseason but right now I like the direction of this group and the way they're working together.
