I see a lot of people can't necessarily agree on which team started small ball concepts but driving the idea of small ball isn't necessarily which teams did it first. The warriors along with a lot of the teams mentioned already were all drivers of the idea, or small ball concepts and it could be argued that the Warriors have had the most success with the concepts or took small ball idea to a new level not seen before which isn't a terrible argument.

Yeah, the new TV deal has been in discussion since before the Warriors caught fire last year, and the new TV deal is the primary reason for the cap increase.

Obviously Lacob is enjoying the success they've had the past two seasons. Yes, I know this year in many ways was a disappointment in terms of final result, but it was still a wildly successful season by the majority of standards. Most other teams would love to have the "disappointment" of losing in the NBA finals in game 7 while also setting the record for most wins in the season. He's getting a bit full of himself (and has been for a while), but if they can continue to look for new was to sharpen their system, this type of thinking maybe isn't a bad thing?

I mean, if he has to be the fall-guy known as the cocky jerk (hi Mark Cuban!- and I like Mark ftr), it may take some pressure off of the team as long as he doesn't become too much of a distraction. It also gives them a little bit of room to experiment with things. At this point, they don't even need to be innovative and completely reshape things, they've already done that. Now they just need to hone and sharpen and add wrinkles to their system. He just needs to stop taking credit for the players' success as well.

Either way, if James stays in Cleveland for a while, this could be a really great rivalry for the next while, which would be cool to see. I don't really like LeBron James, but I respect him immensely and think watching his team compete against GS and the Splash Bros in the next 5-ish years, regardless of who else is on each team could be really really fun to watch, especially if they grow to loathe each other (thanks for getting that started last year Delly, and Draymond for really REALLY picking up that torch this year).

According to his post history, he disappeared right after Game 3 happened. And then he reappeared on June 13, following Game 4. But mysteriously, he hasn't posted on this forum from Game 5 onward...

In all seriousness... if the Cavs were in the Western Conference they would have been beaten by the Warriors, OKC and Spurs easily... and I actually think Portland the way they were playing probably would go close to knocking off the Cavs. They wouldn't have gotten out of the 2nd round.

The Cavs shouldn't even really be in the finals at all... but these are the cards the NBA deals by having an East and West conference.

For 12 months we heard nothing but the Cavs would have won last year if Irving and Love were injured. Now Irving and Love are the reason they can't win.

The man is just a conniving slippery weasel. All he had to do was say "Steph was the best player this year and deserved the award... it doesn't matter what the award is called." But nahhhh Lebron is too salty at the fact he isn't the best player anymore and certainly isn't even close to the most popular.

I have absolutely no doubt if the Warriors, Spurs, OKC or Portland were playing Cleveland in the semi finals... Lebron James would currently be in Ibiza.

I mean really it is an absolute joke that the Finals this year wont be 2 of Golden State, San Antonio or OKC who are far and away the best 3 teams in the league. Instead the ring will be decided in the WCF and Cleveland will get their annual finals participation certificate and walk away with nothing.

All that shows is that if Lebron played in the West he would have been knocked out in the WCFs or Semis or 1st round having met those same teams instead of the finals.

It's just crazy how everyone is realizing it now though. I mean, Curry has been showboating all year but he is regarded as being humble. Ownership alluding to being heads and shoulders over the rest of the teams in terms of how they are run.
