I'm sure people will disagree, but I think Houston is giving too much up. 3/5 of our starting lineup plus two young bench players... for a volume scorer, a deadweight contract, and a second rounder.

Not a fan.

Whew. It's not just me.

I really don't see Melo as a Moreyball kind of player. Transcendent scoring talent, yes. Great system player for our team, no.

Whoa, that trades leves us very thin.
Lowry/Scrub'Ish/ no one
Lee/Taylor
Melo/M. Harris?/Jeffries?
Scola/Hill/Hayes
Yao/ Miller

That team is too thin to compete.

i would love to get anthony but this may deplete houston's lineup too much. We are losing 3 starters, 4 main rotational guys for Melo. I said it on the other thread, he is a legit superstar in this league but you also have to have a solid supporting cast. TJ Ford would be the x factor in this deal. by losing brooks, we are then to expect ford to be a difference maker off the bench.

our lineup

Lowry/Ford
Lee
Anthony/Jeffries
Scola/Hill
Yao/Miller/Hayes

I mean, on paper we still look solid. Our back court is actually better defensively with Lowry and Lee over Brooks/Martin. Offensively we lose 40ppg from the backcourt but of course we have Anthony. Lowry imo is a solid starting point guard.

I don't know i can talk about pros and cons between our current lineup and post trade lineup. But really this trade just scares me. I know we gain a legit superstar but at the same time we are losing a lot from the trade with Brooks/Martin/Battier but i guess that's what you have to do sometimes.

but as i said in the other thread, i trust on morey

ADD: if we weren't losing brooks and substitute 2011 and 12 new york pick, this trade would be easier to swallow.

this isnt real, why would the kings trade thompson for nothing when they've been rebuilding with him? and what's denver gonna do w/ 4 pgs? billups might be able to play sg in fiba, but not the nba. lawson needs more minutes after his rookie year.

how many minutes is melo gonna play in the regular season? 45? then find a way to log in 60mpg in the playoffs? we also lose most of our 3pt shooting, so no spacing in the wings/backcourt.

pacers are victorious in this deal, but still not playoff locks.

I'd do it.

This is Carmelo Anthony we're talking about. Sure, I'd prefer to keep either Brooks or Kevin Martin, but realistically... we have to gamble for the big pay off.

Lowry/Ford
Lee/Taylor
Anthony/Jeffries
Scola/Hill
Yao/Miller/Hayes

That is pretty solid. And we'd still have the Knicks pick and the trade exception for another back court piece.

if this goes down, I'm boycotting this season. This is a no win for every team but IND. IF we do get melo, Morey will low ball them. There's no way the nuggets will get anything for him now that he's all but outright demanded a trade. That's why we shouldn't get players that demands trades b/c if they screwed one team, they will screw us too. It's only a matter of time. No matter how tempting CP3 or melo is, I'll pass. I'd rather get good character guys, if any are even left in the NBA.

That roster is no threat to the Lakers. Thats what it all really comes down to, and that team cant get it done.

its fake, not even on clutchfans. they get everything there. the op is has 8posts, and has granger in his username, and coincidentially pacers get the best deal in this trade.
