Jazz/Celtics Perfect Trade Partners

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Wed Feb 15, 2012 6:13 pm

Bleacher Report says Celtics and Jazz are perfect trade partners bc Celtics need a young big and the Jazz need Rondo. I doubt Celtics trade Rondo but I would like to see this Jazz one sided trade happen which was suggested by them in their article.

Millsap, Harris, and Bell for Rondo and Ray Allen

Celtics hang up laughing if the Jazz offered what the article suggests. Celtics would only consider it (not necessarily do it) if the Jazz added one of their first round picks this year (ie GSW or theirs and if no pick then a future pick). The guy that wrote the article must be a Jazz fan or a Celtics hater because he extremely over values Millsap.

Bleacher isn't a legitimate news source, it's just a bunch of wannabe sports-journalists.

This is a pretty worthless "article" and I really don't think it's likely that the Celtics are interested in trading Rondo for anything that we have. If, however, they are, I would think they'd be more interested in Al than Millsap. They need a center and they're basically set at PF. In addition to KG, they have Brandon Bass, who's basically a poor man's Millsap. If we could get Rondo + filler for Al/Millsap + Harris + filler, I'd definitely do it, but I don't see it happening.

Celts wont trade Rondo unless we include Favors or Kanter.

They might trade if we incluided the 2012 pick + Milsap + more assets.

Rondo isn't worth giving up either Favors or Kanter. I could see them having discussions on potential trades but I doubt anything would get done.

Wow speaking over 'over-valueing' our own players. These two haven't shown they will be all we had hoped. I would most def. trade one of them for Rondo! Not that it will happen

their value is based on youth and potential and is extremely high. they both would give us more than rondo does. a solid point guard is going to be much easier to come by in the future and i don't know if i would give up either of those guys for a few years at least.

Rondo+Allen-Harris+Kanter+ draft picks or somebody. Jazz gets solid guard and 3 pointer. Celtics gets rookie.

Kanter and Favors are going to be the future of the Utah Jazz. If/when they fully develop, their combined value is going to far outweigh the current value of Rondo.

Why would we trade for a "win now" PG when we're not in "win now" mode? The only reason you trade away Kanter and/or Favors for a guy like Rondo is if you honestly believe he is going to put you into contention status. Right now if we make the deal for Rondo, we're still not going to be contenders and by giving up Favors and/or Kanter in a potential Rondo deal, we would only inhibit our plans to develop into a contending team in the future. Essentially, it would keep us in the mediocracy state that we're currently stuck in.

I think it's unlikely both Favors and Kanter hit their potential, but one probably will and be better than Rondo. I say no.

I disagree. You'd get Rondo for 3.5 seasons on a reasonable contract. That's good timing to hope the rest of the talent catch up with him.

Rondo would make us much better, so I'd love a deal for him....if we didn't have to give up Kanter or Favors. Personally, I think the Celts need a player like Al more than a player like Millsap, but a package around either of them would be fine with me. Rondo is a near-elite player and would take us to another level in terms of perimeter D and offensive creativity. I would love having him.

That said, I can't imagine Boston taking our trash for their best young player. So there's that.

Rondo really isn't very good defensively. He can get big steal numbers because KG erases perimeter mistakes, but the Celtics are generally better defensively with him out.

I'd do a Millsap/Jefferson + Harris plus the Golden state pick for Rondo and whatever salary they want to get rid of.

Utah sends Devin Harris, Al Jefferson, Paul Milsap and future 1st

Boston Sends Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Jermaine O'Neal

Works cap wise, gives us our desperately needed PG, and Ray's outside shooting would be a nice addition for the remainder of his contract. JO would be a nice expiring.

Why does Boston do this?

I think that without picks this trade is dead (from Boston perspective).
Is it worth to give up pick(GSW) in a strong draft (+other assets) for Rondo?
