The "Hammer" of the Game Awards 2014/15 - Cumulative Results

Post#1 » by fatlever » Fri Oct 24, 2014 6:31 pm

After each game we will vote for the Hammer of the Game Awards (Hornets players only). The voting will be open for 24 hours after the end of each game (or longer if i am being lazy). Fans from the opposing teams are encouraged to vote, just remember the vote is for the best Hornets (even if your team beats us by 30).

Points
Gold Hammer (3) = best player of the game
Silver Hammer (2) = second best player of the game
Bronze Hammer (1) = third best player of the game

Player with the most points gets a gold hammer, player with the second most points get a silver hammer and the player with the third most points gets a bronze hammer. In the event of a tie, both players will be awarded the higher hammer for win and the lower hammer for losses. If two players tie for a bronze in a loss, only the gold and silver will be awarded (I just cant justify 4 hammers for a loss).

Gold Hammer = 3pts
Silver Hammer = 2pts
Bronze Hammer = 1pt

- Votes must be clear and follow the points listed above with 3 being the best (and so forth)
- Votes must have a best, second best and third best. If you do not list 3 players, your vote will not count. If you list more than 3 players, your vote will not count. If you list a tie, your vote will not count. Votes for anything other than our players, will not count.

So the season-ending injury was just enough for MKG to miss out on his first Golden Hammer for the year...

Thanks a ton for doing the hammers this year JDR. you did a much better job than I ever did. I was so slack and would sometimes take me weeks to get around to adding them up. JDR has my vote for mod of the year.

total hammers lol what is this the 90's? Hammers per minute (HPMs) are clearly a better indication of a player's value!

Seriously though thanks for keeping up with these it's like a cliffsnotes history of the franchise.

I don't think people around here know how good Zeller actually is. He has a really impressive HORP (Hammer over Replacement Player).

What about the Brown Frowns? I know I posted one every time I got pissed.

Which was quite a few times.

Marvin would certainly be worst on the team in HPM (hammers per minute), right?

I think Lance got a lot of undeserved hammers early in the year when everyone was still giddy about his signing and going gaga over him stealing all those rebounds. There is no way he should have the same number of hammers as Zeller. Zeller rarely has the flashy plays or fun stats so all the little things he does gets overlooked.

I am all in favor of trying to capture Brown Frowns next year (win we lose).

Yeah I also remember I was giving Lance some hammers once I realized he was **** if he literally did anything decent. I often gave hammers relative to the expectations I had of the player and lance got some from me when my expectations for him were zero.

I figured I would go ahead and calculate the Hammers Per Minute for the season just for kicks

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist - .04560
Troy Daniels- .04444
Bismack Biyombo - .03942
Noah Vonleh - .03861
Kemba Walker - .03539
Mo Williams - .03008
Gerald Henderson - .02765
Cody Zeller - .02286
Lance Stephenson - .02161
Al Jefferson - .02159
Brian Roberts - .01805
Gary Neal - .01396
Jason Maxiell - .01367
PJ Hairston - .01164
Jeff Taylor - .00930
Marvin Williams - .00786

Troy Daniels coming in hot with the low sample size. Marvin woefully ****. No surprises MKG is at the top.

Lol. Sometimes Walker got a hammer for taking his warm ups off.

i think we will be able to officially say we've got a star player if somebody gets over 150 hammers. Maybe 175. Unless the team really just sucks

Haha yeah sometimes there were just games where you had to give a hammer to somebody. Nobody deserved one so many times. Probably where Kemba got a lot of his.

MKG averages 1.6 Hammers/36.
Jefferson is the all-time LOLcat leader in Hammers in a season, and averaged 1.9 Hammers per 36 minutes
