Tinder Is Helping Players Performance On The Road

Post#1 » by Risk101 » Wed Mar 22, 2017 3:43 pm

A general manager and former player have both claimed that NBA players are performing better on the road in the modern NBA, in part, because they can use dating apps and social media to meet potential sexual partners rather than staying out late in clubs, according to Tom Haberstroh of ESPN.com.

An anonymous general manager described it as the "Tinderization of the NBA."

"Tin-der-i-za-tion," he told Haberstroh, "like the dating app. No need to go to the clubs all night anymore."

A former All-Star player contended that players prefer Instagram to Tinder, though he agreed with the general sentiment.

"It's absolutely true that you get at least two hours more sleep getting laid on the road today versus 15 years ago. No schmoozing. No going out to the club. No having to get something to eat after the club but before the hotel."

Yeah let me feel real sorry for former NBA players who had to take a girl out to eat on the road before getting in her pants

Funny how things like this play into in-game results though

Feel like most of these guys just use high class escorts tbh

Unrelated - STD treatment now covered by the team's medical staff.

can you imagine nba player doing a commercial for tinder?

hello, my name is paul george, back in the days I used to go to the club to find chicks or sleep with my teammate wives. But thanks to tinder I can find any chick I want by simply pressing one button. Guaranteed 2 extra hours of sleep, we also offer 100% money back guarantee

Does Haberstroh have any respect for himself at all as a journalist ? He's more like a member of an NBA player's "posse" who works for ESPN rather than a journalist .

Almost all your posts on this forum are written in a condescending manner towards players, often remarking that you don't feel sorry for them or bringing up how much money they make, not to mention your consistently racist undertones (which you've actually admitted to).

We get it, you didn't make it to the NBA and you' probably don't have much luck with the ladies, doesn't mean you have to spew negativity throughout this forum.

Anyways...as irreverent and unnecessary as this article may be, it does make some pretty interesting points.

As fans we tend to think of players as robots but when you speak with trainers or guys who work within organizations things like this are taken into account almost as much as the on court product.

Amin from ESPN has some great insight from when he worked for the Suns, from guys who took their rehab super serious to players who really couldn't handle team camaraderie.

Unless you're a transcendent talent, all that stuff matters when making it in the league as a role player or fringe player. Just like any other job really.

Where's the advanced stats on how many girls players are banging per 36 mins while on the road in today's era vs the 80's?

I don't feel sorry for them at all

I am pretty racist but not in an hierarchical way. Races are different and have different cultures, not sure how there is arguing against that

I don't have sex as often as I probably should attempt to, ya got me.

Welp, clearly the Pacers haven't discovered Tinder yet.

Our road record sucks.

Apps are hugely more efficient than going out and meeting randos, for regular schmoes and NBA players, alike. No surprises here.

I find this part hilarious, reminds me of the recent family guy where quagmire discovers tinder.

Several things.

1. I don't enjoy his writing style.
2. I find excessive self-satisfaction annoying. On radio and tv he comes off as the quintessential journalist who thinks he understands the industry better than the people who work in it full-time. I am quite confident he thinks he would be a better GM than most in the league.
3. His writing style is overly long but I find no appreciation for the beauty of basketball.
4. I think his points are far more banal than he realizes.
