Did the Lakers shatter the Celtics swag?

Post#1 » by NetsForce » Sat Dec 27, 2008 6:13 am

Is it me or did the Lakers get into Boston's head with their win the other day? During tonight's G-State game the Celtics looked very shaky and didn't seem to have the confidence they had during that awesome win streak of theirs. They also weren't taunting the other team as much as they did prior to the Lakers game...

Are the Lakers in the Celtics' head? And have they shattered their swag?

It didn't stop KG from cheap-shotting Belinelli late int he 4th though. Who sets screens when the other team has the ball lol..

Maybe not, but as a contender, a loss to the depleted Warriors is as demoralizing as it gets. :-?

lol naw. It's just a bad game. It happens. Teams go on lil slumps through the course of the year. More of a let down after being all psyched up for the LA game than anything, imo. The defending champs aren't going to suddenly implode psychologically because they lost a road game to the best team in the West. And it was a back to back. Don't overreact.

That's when you play 2 games in 2 days right? The last time I checked EVERY TEAM in the league does that multiple times each season, so I don't really see how that is a valid excuse unless...

You're saying that the Celtics age is starting to catch up them and they're paying the price for over-exerting themselves so early into the season... To be honest Diesel I didn't consider that until now, so if that's what you were getting at my bad. That's actually a pretty logical explanation...

Celtics lost 3 in a row on their west coast trip last year.

no, they just exposed Boston's brutal bench.

Unless Ainge does something with that bench, Cavs >> Celtics

Did the Lakers shatter the Celtics swag?

Hmmm...let's see:

swag
1   /swæg/
noun, verb, swagged, swag⋅ging.
–noun
1. a suspended wreath, garland, drapery, or the like, fastened up at or near each end and hanging down in the middle; festoon.
2. a wreath, spray, or cluster of foliage, flowers, or fruit.
3. a festoon, esp. one very heavy toward the center.
4. a swale.
5. a swaying or lurching movement.
–verb (used without object)
6. to move heavily or unsteadily from side to side or up and down; sway.
7. to hang loosely and heavily; sink down.
–verb (used with object)
8. to cause to sway, sink, or sag.
9. to hang or adorn with swags.

According to dictionary.com the last four choices aren't nouns, so you must want to know if the Lakers destroyed the Celtics wreath or garland? If they did that would be a terrible thing to do, especially during this Christmas season. Very Grinch-like, if you ask me.

Kevin Garnett is no longer a dominant offensive player.

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

I think after winning so many games in a row as a team you tend to think you can't lose and forget you have to do the little things to win each game.

Playing the Lakers game like it was "just another game" was probably not a good mentality to have because the C's did not match their intensity or energy especially from the start of the game.

And in any close game you don't want to let the refs make calls to dictate the game and you see some of the C's players get a little too caught up with the refs and bad calls instead of focusing on playing the game.

It's carried over to the Warriors game where a few bad calls lead to some arguing and that never gets anywhere except on the bad side of the refs and that's never good.

The C's bench is def. the team's weakest point and if opposing teams don't take advantage of it they're in for a long night. Our bench hasn't been playing well lately for like 2 weeks but they were actually picking up the starters in the beginning of the year for the first month and they can def. play better....but right now they're just sucking.

When was he ever "dominant" offensively?

I mean that was the knock on the guy in Minny...he was just too unselfish and wouldn't take over games when he clearly had the advantage.....especially late in the games.

KG can get a high percentage shot whenever he wants on most nights but it helps when he actually gets the ball.

You're missing the point I'm not saying the Celtics suck for losing 2 games, I'm just saying that it seems like the Celtics confidence has been temporarily shattered...

I heard KG went after Belinelli tonight. Not exactly a 6' point guard but close enough. Nice to see he's not letting up his intensity after 2 losses.
