2018 Draft (Merged). New poll

Post#1 » by GimmeDat » Sat Apr 14, 2018 12:53 am

So, after tie-breakers, we're in 6th spot. I was going to do a realgm poll but you can only have 1 poll and it only shows your #1 preference.. so I'm using another site where everyone can rank their 1-5 (I've chosen MPJ, Mikal, Carter, Bamba, Young as the realistic options for us, though obviously a couple will be gone by our pick), so we can get a better understanding of the boards opinion.

It's still a couple of months out until the actual draft, and undoubtedly we'll all change our minds based on things that will happen between now and then, and of course we may move again after the lottery, but I figured it would be interesting to gauge now and see the change between now and then also.

Here is the link to vote on our pick - https://simpleassign.com/poll/-L9xTK2CVSBYHKi7mxVK

I've also created a poll for the Pelicans pick. It's really wide open but I've tried to include a whole bunch of options to cover most of your preferences. Again, not everyone will be on the board for our pick, but just treat it as if everyone's available.

I put a whole range of players to accommodate everyone (18), so bear in mind you'd have to rank all of them to vote on this one. We're assuming a lot of the guys we've previously talked about (Knox, Sexton, SGA, Williams, J.Porter, Smith) are off the board.

*Turns out you don't have to order all of them so just do your top 5 if you want.

1 MPJ
2 Bamba
3 Carter
4 Bridges
5 Young

1 Walker
2 Robinson
3 Musa
4 Brown
5 Hutchison

Edit- If JJJ were to have been included, I'd have him 3rd, behind Porter and Bamba. But, I can see scenarios where this entire list changes quite a bit before the draft. But, I doubt my mind changes on Ayton, Bagley, and Doncic as the top 3.....

Great idea, GimmeDat!
1- Bamba, 2-MPJ, 3-Carter, 4-Bridges, 5-Young.

I still don’t have an opinion on the Pels pick, I’ll start scouting (aka watching videos on youtube) now that I know where we’ll choose.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

Our pick:

1. Bamba
2. MPJ (based purely on hype - my own scouting leaves me unimpressed)
3. Mikal Bridges (my own scouting likes him better than MPJ, but I'm rolling with assumed upside)
4. Carter
5. Young

I need to do a lot more research on the Pels pick. But currently I like Musa and Robinson as upside picks and Hutchison as a plug and play. Most of the other guys I am familiar with will probably be gone.

I think I'd have Holiday 5th or 6th if he were an option on the Pels pick.

1. Bamba- 3x better than the 4 players below in the list.
2. Mikal Bridges - average athlete like mpj but +7 length.
3. Young -
4. Carter
5. MPJ is a sure fire bust- he sucks and has no chance to be anything but McDermott 2.0. Shouldn’t be drafted in the top 20

As of right now, I have Bamba as my far and away #1 target in this draft, and I would be pretty upset if he was there and the Bulls passed on him for somebody else (assuming, of course, no Ayton, Bagley, Doncic).

1- Bamba
2- MPJ
3- Bridges
4- Carter
5- Young

I'll say

1. JJJ (likely won't fall)
2. Bamba
3. MPJ
4. Mikal Bridges
5. Young

I could swap MPJ or Bridges.

We can do that as well (I'll add it now). Was just thinking with the linked polls we get a bit more insight beyond what everyone's first option is.

Ah okay.

MPJ. You can never have enough shooters on a rebuilding team. The roster can be rounded out with defensive role players afterwards.

MPJ has the highest bust potential but highest ceiling too.
1. MPJ
2. Bamba
3. Carter
4. Young
5. Bridges

I think bridges will be a solid pro but did he really stand out during the NCAA tourney? I saw a few nova games and watched the tourney and I don’t recall ever seeing him take over a game and was definitely deferring to DiVincenzo in the championship game. He was a very good complementary player and played under control and within the system kind of like Jimmy Butler at Marquette. He seems like a safe pick and a guy that may have long journeyman career but not a superstar. I gotta say that I’d be a little disappointed if we went the safe route; although I was the first to applaud pax for taking a risk on tyrus thomas over LaMarcus Aldridge and we all know how that turned out. Nevertheless, I still believe in swinging for the fences.
