The Bulls desperately need toughness. That is the biggest issue.

But our 2-way signings have sucked. Most NBA teams have at least turned one 2-way dude into a quality rotation guy. I don't think we've even been close with our crop.

How many 2-way players have made a difference in the NBA? The Heat has done well with undrafted and G League players, but Im not sure if other teams have.

Torrey Craig
Chris Boucher
Gary Payton Jr
Alex Caruso
DJJ
Luke Kornet
Max Strus
John Konchar
Trevelin Queen
Jericho Sims
Justin Champagnie
Julian Champagnie
Ty Jerome
Moussa Diabate
Scotty Pippen Jr
Vince Williams Jr
AJ Green
Keon Ellis
Jay Huff

The list of 2-way success stories is quite long at this point.

Well the Bulls were the ones who "found" Strus. Kornet was also someone we had. Unfortunately, both found success on their next stop.

Most of those players haven't made much of a difference in the NBA. Strus, Caruso, Pippen Jr and DJJ are contributors, but not anyone I regret missing out on.

However I say that because the Bulls don't have a franchise player worth building around. If they did then players like DJJ, Pippen Jr and Caruso would be great to add to to team.

You could say the same about PWill, Coby, and Ayo yet we gave them all second contracts.

Our FO are not good at this. Period.

The best FO possible would have never had a 2 way player turn into a good rotation piece. Finding solid 2 way players isn't a special skillset. For every successful 2 way player, the team that signed him failed on somebody else that they were more sure of.

I'm sure there is a small amount of skill recognizing a guy whose skills shine in a lower level league that are transferrable to the NBA. IMO the main skill is cycling through them quickly enough to be sure they aren't NBA talents. Even there, that's very tied to overall roster depth to actually see what's there on an NBA court.
