In Embiid's defense, I think three things:

1: I would never want to criticize someone for doing the Olympics. I think it is awesome to represent your country, and we probably wouldn't have won gold with out him, and as a US Citizen, I'm happy Embiid did this over playing for his NBA career.

2: I'm 49, I can't imagine being 30 and having to think about my body constantly failing me (regardless of how many times it has in the past). It's just such a young age to think "I can't compete in the Olympics because I may not be able to play basketball later". It really isn't that many games/minutes you are even playing.

3: I'm very skeptical that had he skipped the Olympics that it would have made any difference whatsoever.

But regardless of whether you think he could have / should have done something differently, it doesn't change the fact that Philly is screwed.

Then return the money or deal with the consequences of being a failure. Life is about sacrifice.

He did it for glory. He did not do it out of love.

Why? That's not what his contract states. Philly choose to take this risk. Literally not his problem. They could have negotiated for a non-guaranteed deal, they could have not signed him at all, they could have traded him and let someone else take the risk. They didn't.

Embiid doesn't need to come up with additional amendments to his contract that he isn't obligated to. Neither side owes the other anything beyond the contract.

He did it for glory. He did not do it out of love.

So he wanted to have the glory of leading his country to the gold medal vs love for his country? Probably same for almost every Olympic athlete out there.

I still enjoyed team USA winning a gold medal and I'm glad he was there.

I see Pat's "5 game hot streak" where he averaged just under 12 points and 7 boards is over.

Back to P-Won't we go....

Because the game hasn't been played yet?

That might explain it. My bad. I didn't realize until today that they played a 2nd game against the Pistons the next day. I guess I am no longer engaged.
