Dude was trash by NBA standards, and modern game requirements for success.

Embarrassing AK would even sign the guy to a 2-way in the first place. Then to hold on to him for as long as they did…absolutely nuts.

Then again, what else should we expect from perhaps the absolute worst FO in the Association.

Oh don't get me wrong Sanogo isn't worth an NBA roster spot, but he is higher on that list that Young is! Especially when Bulls needed size not more PGs...

Bulls FO has absolutely 0-clue on how to utilize 2-ways and find/scout young talent. Paxson and Forman were MILES ahead in that category!

He's fine for what he was: a seldom used break-in-case of emergency depth big, but I'd like to use those two-way spots to find actual contributors.

We're 8 years in to the two-way contract era and it seems like we're the only organization that hasn't found a rotation player out of them. I believe Ryan Arcidiacono has been our best find, and he's literally last man on the roster quality. Max Strus if we're being very, very generous.

I don't remember Luke well. Did he also dominate the NCAA tournament and then put up a 22 and 20 game the first time he ever got non garbage minutes in an NBA game?

I don't understand why it would be expected or desirable to turn two-way contract guys into contributors. They are 4th string players essentially. First and second string are contributors (because they are the guys that play). Then NBA rosters have an entire 3rd string of full time active players that should be better than their two-way guys. It's nice if a team can find a diamond in the rough or develop a guy into a real player, but if that happens, it probably speaks just as poorly about how they chose their first 15 guys than it does about any virtue in talent development of their two-way guys.

I like Sanogo but I won't miss him and generally couldn't care less about two-way players. I don't think the nba should have two-way deals. Way too many guys IMO. 12 man rosters would be more than fine with me. 14 or 15 is certainly plenty.

I think 2-way guys can be a very useful way to find talent outside of the draft. It's just that we can't seem to do it well (theme noted).

I agree that 2-ways can be useful to find hidden talent but i'd limit those contracts down to 2nd Rounders/Undrafted players and only allowed in the first 2 years of their career. After that hidden talent players are very rarely "found". But using that instead of a guaranteed deal on a 2nd rounder makes sense and a great way to bring in undrafted talent.

Credit where credit is due. He’s been playing well so give him a chance. NOGO is injured for a month so why not! We have a guy that is 6’10” now so give it a shot.

Once again it doesn’t matter what happens most here won’t be happy with it regardless.
Fan Logic - Doesn’t shot 3’s = No good
It’s Giddey NOT Giddy

With the 12th pick Chicago Bulls Select: NOA ESSENGUE

Don’t poo poo the ability to leverage the 2-way.

https://hoopshype.com/lists/nba-ranking-most-successful-two-way-contract-players-ever/

Obviously very low hit %, but guys like Caruso, Reaves, Dort, Naz Reid are out there. Teams should be scouring the Earth for these guys.

Start by trying to avoid signing undersized people with robot athleticism and the inability to shoot, and then holding on to them for ages. That will increase your odds.

Young looks as if he has some game, why not just take a flyer on him?
AK has messed up on and on, but I don't understand the critical comments in this case?
