There's a whole summer league of unclaimed prospects. The Bulls shouldn't be limiting themselves by selecting guys from our limited roster. That being said, Young doesn't need to be occupying a two way roster spot.

Exactly and as much as Yuki has impressed he is limited in what he can do and being 24 already its not like his "potential" is through the roof. I think he is what he is at this point and not going to improve much.

There are probably 20+ "unclaimed" non-Bulls summer league roster guys i'd rather have on a two-way then ANY of guys on our squad outside of Matas/Noa.

AJ Lawson has been tearing it up, at 25 again not much upside but drastically better than any other player on our summer team (I'm looking at you JFL, Miller, Young, etc), wont improve much but looks like a servicable player for the coming year. David Jones-Garcia has been a top 5 player in summer league and is unclaimed at the moment and could easily make 10+ NBA rosters. We should be looking for these UDFA's that are 20-23 with upside plenty out there that the Bulls seem uninterested in.

Matas is way more athletic than cooper flagg

Matas has that spring in his lift cooper just doesn't.

Cooper has a much better jump shot though

Wouldnt be shocked if they are both on the same level in a few years.

If that is the case then you are looking at a legit #1 player for Chicago.

Single observation of the night: Matas’ handle is much improved. If he is officiated fairly he might be spending a lot of time at the line.

Through two summer league games he's 17-20 from the free throw line. Not only is he getting there at a grate rate, he's knocking them down too.

Coop is ahead of Matas in every way possible. Matas making this closer then it is, just makes Bulls very lucky. Lets break down what you said. Matas looks after a year of NBA training more athletic and more springy than Flagg. Yes. That's true at this stage. That doesnt mean year from now Flagg will behind after Flagg goes through same.

Flagg has much better jump shoot, yes he does. And year from now it's possible jumpshot it's gonna be at level Matas never achieves in his career. Both in difficulty of shots taken and efficiency. Flagg has so much better arsenal of offensive skills that I dont think we saw even beggining. Matas I think still needs to develop his game, like his go to moves. Because he is unlike Flagg he is brought up on a team where he is not primary ball handler and maybe wont be few years yet.

I would personally be shocked if they are both same level in few years, but again all credit to Matas to making this helluva close at this stage. The closer it looks better for Bulls. This kind of discussion might look silly in few years like people were comparing Giannis vs Mirotic. When now it's not even close.

He did nothing to standout, per usual for Bulls two-way contracts.

We should move on from him and Young (and Olbrich, but that's obviously not gonna happen since we just drafted him).

Saw Pat is hanging out with the guys in Vegas. Pat is such an enigma. I don't think it's that he's not a hard worker or just doesn't care I think he just absolutely sucks at basketball relative to most top 5 picks. Part of that is the Covid draft process that entire class was screwy.

Maybe if he just focuses on being a good role player he can excel. The point Pat experiment has failed he's strictly a 3 and D guy.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

Pat, to me, seems to mostly suffer from a “you can’t teach motor” problem. He can work hard all he wants, but if you don’t have that motor on the court, it doesn’t translate.

Pat should get a very defined role on the 2nd unit, so he may recover some of his value. If he cannot play that role from the bench till the deadline, buy him out and get him the heck out of Chicago. He is not even suited to cheer on the bench. A big sign to AKME, don't bid against yourself again and do not trust players without a motor.
I don't think Pat doesn't work hard, the game just never slowed down for him and he can't translate what he works on to in-game play in the NBA.

IDK what to expect from Pat this season. I agree that he does work hard. I think he's be plagued by too many injuries that required offseason rehab vs. work, that he's regressed coming into seasons rusty and out-of-basketball-shape. He got paid, but he's got pride. I expect him to be as good as he can be coming into this season, whatever that means. He's a Bulls, so I'm rooting for him to be great. At the very least, he's the hurdle that Noa has to jump to get more than 10 MPG this season.

More PWill emoting: I think Pat would be a better player if the Bulls didn't try to push him to be Kawhi. Or, at the very least, they had him work on the two skills (ball handling and post skills) that he very obviously lacked. I get why they did it, given his draft position and physical makeup, but it's gonna be very hard to put that genie back in the bottle. He was also negatively impacted by the move to the PF role. If he had just been developed as a 3-D, low volume shooter, he's be a very good 4th starter guy.
