Not a fan of Kuminga - but if we somehow could dump PWill this would be a hole other story.
PWill (of the books) + Ayo + a 1st rd pick for an overpaied Kuminga at lets say 3/75 or higher would still be a hell of a bargain.

Overpaying Kuminga would be the smaler accident:
PWill has 4/72 restsalary. In a realistic world he'd be worth 4/10.
62 mio over 4 years too much
Kuminga at 3/84 is overpaying. Let us say 3/60 would be his true value.
this would be just 24 over 3 years too much.
In order to make it wouth we'd have to sweetin the deal with a 1st rd pick and Ayo, who is on a relatively cheap contract and would have some value acting not as a necessary scoring option, just beeing the oil alongside other stars.

Having PWill off the books would be very attractive to me

If it's just Kuminga at $22-25 million (over 3 years) for PWill plus the Port pick-sold, why not
Wouldn't add Ayo or anything else

It would be almost horrible, but the more horrible deal is already in our books: PWill is a min Player but we owe him 72mio/4years instead.
When PWill contract is off in 2029 he'll retire or go to china. If a Kuminga 3/75 contract would be off in 2028 he'd at least be a sign and trade candidate (probably for less money).

I think there is a 0% chance Golden State would want Pat’s long-term contract even with a FRP as a sweetener.

Exactly. Thats why we add Ayo and they add Moody. It works financially. And we won’t be paying Ayo long term if we pay Coby anyway. So its not an overpay.

Pat Wil, Ayo, portland first for Kuminga and Moody
We have Martell Webster. He's called Kyle Korver here, and we shall love him and squeeze him and call him Ashton. -BrooklynBulls

Someone is going to offer either guy $25M next season, especially with the cap skyrocketing up every year. It's predicated to be a $200M lux tax in 2027 which is where most teams want to operate just below.

Kuminga taking the QO would be awful for him. He has no clear path to improving his production. At least Giddey has a direct path to putting up good box score numbers again.

Interesting debate. I look at this from an opportunity cost POV.

Big picture, this team needs at least 1 allstar (maybe 2 depending on development) in order to compete. I think that the POR 1st, while not super valuable on it's own, may be a critical piece to cobble together for a star. I'd rather not give up any 1sts for Kuminga.

I'm sorta in the same camp as GS in that if we traded for him, I'd expect to turn around and try to trade him in a year or two, so I wouldn't want to sign him for more than $20M.

I'd be fine trading Ayo and Pat to get a look at a new face. Ayo is unlikely to stay after this season...he has more value to other teams than here. IMO, Pat is a perfectly fine backup PF, just one that's overpaid by $12Mish per year. The thing is that overpay, while a painful reminder of a bad deal, doesn't really restrict our ability to add a MAX player at the deadline or next season.

If Pat is closer to the average, frustrating, but useful 3D player he was during his first four seasons, he's much closer to being worth $18M/year than not. Especially since his salary is flat year-to-year. The NT MLE will hit $18M at some point during his contract. Bonus: He fits our team.

I don't think people are really grasping what Kuminga has to do here to be worth the money he's asking for. And that's considering the objective reality that he's a bad fit with our current roster.

I would rather keep Ayo and re-sign him next summer, or keep him and sign someone else who fits the team, than trade him for Kuminga straight up. These are just bad scenarios that don't move the needle at all.

Seems it’s all Kuminga’s agent trying to link Bulls because it’s not Kings and Suns interested.

Kings will cough up Keon Ellis and a 1st and JK will be a King with Lavine and DDR. Hope he gets paid because he won’t be putting up numbers with those two.

Had a weird dream that included living in a world where Kuminga signed a team-friendly deal with the Bulls. Why? I have no idea. It hasn't exactly been weighing on me, at all. But the longer this goes on, I do think a team like the Bulls will have more leverage

Hopefully that prophecy will be fulfilled
